Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

Unless its to allow Horny's contract to run out so we can get him in for 2016/17. I wouldn't mind playing the long game here. We need to stay calm if Fred leaves and not do anything brash. The team we have coming back and TJ being interim with Mann staying on board would pretty much keep the roster in tact.

It's would be a recruiting disaster. Tantamount to Tom Davis' lame duck year. I'm not concerned about the current roster at all.

Yes I do think they would tweet something. Mainly because I am sure it would hurt them and cause them to be a little emotional.

They would tell someone that told someone More than just dandyclone.

I'm working under the assumption that TJ would be retained. Have we learned nothing about recruiting and assistant coaches?

No I don't. Why do you think CW and Hines had full stories of TJ getting hired 2 minutes after it got announced. They knew well ahead of time and didn't leak anything
So we have at least 3 credible posters saying they have inside info that he is here next year for sure and one poster with no history of inside info saying he is gone and told the players hmmm. We gave the guy that said Hoiberg sister in law said he will be here no juice why would we give dandy the benifit Of doubt? Or how about cloned? Or ribs?. Their are competing posters claiming inside info with competing messages. Hence I choose to listen and wait.

You think TJ would spend a year as a head coach (and most likely with some success) and then stay on as an assistant?

If it comes down to it (and it will if Hoiberg leaves), you hire TJ at 700k a year for 4 years. You don't give him a big raise next year no matter what they do and you tell him that he'll have to earn the extension in year 2 or 3. You put a huge *** buyout in the contract because what's the worst that can happen?

The positive is that they would save some money which might be needed if we have to buy out Rhoads.

Recruiting without a head coach is a completely different animal.

Who are the ones saying he'll be here. One of them backed out of that comment last night.

I think there are lots of credible posters saying that the decision hasn't been made. But very few saying he'll be here for sure.

Hell, I think the best sign so far is that the Chicago media apparently doesnt' think it is a sure thing yet.

I tend to agree, but if you hire Otz it will get ugly fast in recruiting, IMO. Not sure he will make a lot of head way until he proves he can coach next year. By then, most decent/realistic HS kids are off the board. We've sort of been flirting with some 5-stars recently that wait until spring, but those aren't realistic for Otz. Most of the kids he'll be recruiting will start committing this summer and fall.

With the way our roster sits, you HAVE to land some good players in this upcoming class, or you're basically burning it down and starting from scratch. Tough task for a new coach.

Hopefully we can land at least one good transfer this year (for 2016), and a couple immediate guys next year, or we're in trouble.

Well, I think he means there have been a handful of posters who have claimed inside knowledge and have been fairly resolute in that Hoiberg is staying. Cpech and Ribs on this board (maybe forgetting someone) and Cloned on CR.

We are in trouble if Hoiberg leaves.

That was two days ago though or at least pre-Bulls getting annihilated last night, right?

I don't think Cloned knows jack about this. The old guard doesn't necessarily have a lot of connection to this coaching staff. Now if you asked him if Floyd was coming back, I'd believe what he told you.

JFC guys, with the way a lot of you act I'm surprised anyone post rumors they've heard. Don't you want that kind of info from here?

That name was leaked as an OPTION if Fred turns them down.

The Chicago side of the media isn't as convinced that Fred will take the job as we are.

Speak for yourself here. You are melting down, the rest of us are much more level headed.

FWIW first thing morning before this thread was started I heard from someone at work basically the same thing that Dandy said he was told as far as the team being notified. I don't really know the person I heard it from that well so I didn't think about it too much until this thread, could just be a strange coincidence though.

I asked you to think it through. You did not.

I haven't seen you post one meaningful thing in this thread. Just spewing negativity and telling everyone how wrong they are. Welcome to my ignore list!

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

I'm completely okay with getting told I was wrong here. It's a small piece to the pie.

What about the staff? Are you hearing if the staff has been told Hoiberg's intentions?

HAHAH!!!

He told you that you were wrong on at least 2 of your points (the interim part as well) and you don't even address it. So administrator Jeremy has shot down 2 of your points,

Also... now your'e claiming the coaches and not players know... but you said nothing about coaches in your first post.

Give it up.
