It's smaller than the other board but it is about perfect in size. The rest of the endzone is so massive it just makes it look smaller. And I'm not joking when I say that.

If you haven't been in the stadium, it's hard to explain how big it is.

Is that all the bigger the scoreboard is going to be, or do they still need to put up some more panels? Why not use up the entire space?

Wish the upper deck seats ended closer to the score board. But it will still be a great environment this season. Can't wait.

Maybe they are leaving room for a bigger videoboard down the road!

I was thinking they were the same size? Either way it is going to be nice to have a real video board in the south Endzone.

sightlines from the top corners. Your view of the field would be blocked if the board was closer to the stands.

It would only block the view of a handful of $175 season ticket holders and that just a little.

Testifying
A couple of good conference wins like OSU 2011, TCU 2012 or Texas 2010 would really bring the fun back. I don't think most of this fan base is asking for 8-10 wins, I think most of us just want football to be fun again. Being able to pull off a big win over a ranked Big XII foe = fun.
Funny the games you rattled off there, I've seen all of those in person. I've got a good traveling crew.

If the columns behind the board they put up are similar in size to the columns for the other board then they are not the same size. Furthermore, the staff has stated it's similar in size which translates to it being smaller.

I went back and looked at video of both when they were installed. If they are the same size I would be extremely surprised by that.

Again, not a big deal but after seeing them in person and comparing installation I don't see anyway that's possible.

Our TWO video boards are both plenty big!

I think they are the same size

I believe Jamie said they were the same size.

Transformational change to Trice. Brings a serious big-boy look to the stadium. And it will be rockin' for in-state rivals. ISU starts season 3-1; 1-0 in league.

No he didnt. He did not say that. Does anyone want to wager?

Things like this drive me nuts. He said it's similar. Never said they were the same size.

This is what happens when people take something and state it incorrectly later.

Finally found a dimension.
New structure not board 150 X 36
Old structure not board 158 x 36

project site says "similar to current board in North end"

For example. The back sections that they attached. The new board used four sections. The other board went 6 wide.

Jamie Pollard has specifically stated they are the same

Thanks. I couldn't find that. Closer than I thought!

Two boards! Can't wait!

I'm not entirely sure what you are so upset about. Both of the video board screens will be 79.5 feet by 36 feet unless something changed. And yes the structures that house them are slightly different sizes. What I have never seen a clear answer on is what they are doing or not doing in regards to sound systems in the south endzone.

Edit: Looks like they are putting out 79 by 36 but would guess that's rounding as the aspect ratio wouldn't be different.

Nobody is upset. Hate misinformation. It leads to problems.

From the Board of Regent's Agenda Items - "Executive Summary: At its February 2014 meeting the Board authorized ... upgrading the stadium south video board and sound system components, ..."

Later in the same document "The university wishes to replace the existing ... with an enhanced video scoreboard and sound system with technology and interface capabilities similar to the north end zone."

I don't think there are publically disclosed specs since this part of the project was a negotiated contract rather than a competitive bid item. Don't know if this answers any of your questions.
