Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

I am so ******* tired of the phrase "he gone".

One positive if Fred leaves is I may never have to read the phrase 'Let me Mayor, coach' ever again.

Oh pleadoesn't make BibLes comment less true. ote to Pollard never ever hire someone with ISU ties ever again because the butt hurt if they ever choose to move on to a better opportunity is beyond belief.

Oh the hell with it, lets fire Pollard while we are at it. He hired Hoiberg knowing up front Fred wanted to coach in the NBA someday. Pollard clearly screwed up this hire too.

Agreed...but what you say here doesn't make BigBake's comments less true. A lot of people would feel the way he states.

I can't imagine the bridge jumpers after TJ is named head coach.

What are the odds Royce White goes to the Bulls if Hoiberg takes the job?

After the Bulls max out Jimmy Butler that might be all they can afford...

It probably will be a lot easier to get season tickets.

Jamie has been greasing the skids for this for a week now, trying to ease the pain. His comments have been very telling. He knows. Can't blame Fred, you only live twice

If you listened to Walters on KXNO this evening it seems he was doing the same thing. Basically telling fans that the only thing you can do is be happy CFH was here and wish him luck.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

Kind of makes one wonder how fast Otz came back to Ames. Maybe Pollard wanted him back here in case CFH decided to go and he then will be the interim coach wit a chance to be the guy. Who knows, but maybe that comment from Lorenzo Romar about Otz will come in to play sooner than later.

I will feel bad for all of the players, but seems like Hallice Cooke and Deonte Burton in particular would be a crappy deal for them.

You don't come around here often, do you?

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

If you don't think our losses when MA left were not partially due to "this situation", as opposed to MA, you aren't looking hard enough. I think you can bank on Williams not being given a guarantee that Fred would be here, and the same with Diallo, as to reasons we truly lost those guys. ( although Diallo was far from a Sure thing, but I don't buy the Hoiberg could not see Diallo due to weather story....

fred couldn't see Diallo because he is to much of a good guy to lie to his face. You don't recruit a guy with Diallo's talent to Ames to leave him stranded there. This thing has been in the works for months and Fred backed off on Diallo because of it.

He's gone and it's obvious. Otherwise...

"There has been a lot of talk about an opportunity in the NBA recently. While coaching in the league has always been a dream of mine I wanted to let the players, fans, and Cyclones everywhere know that I will remain commited to Iowa State with the National championship as our goal next year."

My point exactly....I mentioned all of this well over a month ago ( TJ, coming back, Williams following Matt, Diallo moving on from us, etc) and was called out as a crazy speculator trying to create controversy.......funny now, as everyone is starting to see it..... Fred has likely been talking to Gar about the Bulls job since early to Mid March...possibly sooner.

Has he had a press conference where he could have shot down these rumors? Didn't think so. Just let the guy recover.

I'd say sooner. Or he at least tipped Jamie off that he was gonna get serious about the NBA soon last fall. That Pollard Otz dinner last fall was a business dinner.
