I too would like to continue to root for Fred, but this season could have been what made up for all of the past seasons for Iowa State football and basketball and if he leaves he is messing that all up. It's just ironic that the one season Iowa State is suppose to be really good, a lifetime Cyclone messes with it.
This. I would agrue Hoiberg leaving now would damage the growing brand that Iowa State basketball is becoming. Can't keep the "mayor" from looking elsewhere? I remember after Hoiberg got here I ran into him and his family at the old Wallabys and had a nice talk with him. He said he got his dream job coming home to Ames. I guess I would question that if he left.

I wish they'd just get it over with, this whole BS about having to shop Thibs around for a trade is just ridiculous. Like the other NBA execs aren't clued into the world of basketball enough to know that Thibs is out. Doesn't seem like Chicago would be able to get a very good trade deal for Thibs with everyone knowing they want him gone.

Sanderson left because Pollard didn't want to pony up the money to support him, or the program. Lord Jesus, I hope that's not the case with Fred.

Actually, Fred is the 7th highest paid coach in the Big 12 conference. That is ridiculous.

Wonder if Sanderson would have stuck around if he knew the Big12 wasn't collapsing and that Iowa State would suddenly be making a ton more money from TV revenue.

I'm guessing there's not much regret after 4 national championships and unrivaled support from the the athletic department.

If's funny how right after the mods turn this into a mega, OFFICIAL thread, all of sudden everyone starts debating wrestling. No mention of Fred or the team that shall not be named for at least 4 posts.

What the **** else are people supposed to talk about. It's better than the few posters who have taken over the thread claiming they know he is gone and anyone who doesn't agree is delusional while providing no real info.

Of course he is also around 20th in the country. Mayor makes more than Roy Williams for crying out loud. And I appreciate everything Mayor has done at ISU, but he isn't getting Cal/Coach K/Self money without a few regular season conference titles or a Final Four

No need for it now that Sanderson left.

Yeah, I am sure Jackson and our wrestlers wouldn't use it anyway. It's not here because even with the increased revenue it wasn't on Pollards priority list, and probably rightfully so. He was willing to sacrifice the wrestling program to a degree so that we could get our football facilities in order and upgrade the track, soccer facilities.
