Unless you announce Otz as the one year interim Head Coach and Horny taking over at the end of next season for continuity reasons and that he will retain existing staff. Not happening but that is the only possible scenario I can think of that an interim could work. People know the next coach staff could recruit, Horny finishes out his contract at the suns So we don't have to buy it out. We get continuity with players and system for next year. Otz gets to prove himself to potentiallyrics be very a traction for a higher level HQ job in the future. Again not happening but the only possible scenario that this would conceivably make sense (that my pea brain can think of)

I thought they changed that rule, the Bob Huggins Rule. If Hornacek were to come to ISU he could not be in contact with recruits until he is on the staff. So not sure how well that works.

"Gopher steam?" No one took any of that seriously other than UofM and delusional Gopher fans. Many rational Gopher fans knew he wasn't coming. That job would've been a lateral move or step down. The T-Wolves were the bigger threat.

Fred may/probably will leave, TJ may be the next coach, but I seriously doubt your "Gopher steam" statement.
People inside the AD took it serious.

Yes... a guy who was interviewing for head coaching gigs at Green Bay and Northern Kentucky is the top choice for what looks like a preseason top 5 ranked team in the nation. Sounds about right...

Did we all get used to Greg McDoormatt stinking up the joint when he literally killed the program? I don't think so.

I wasn't happy with the Hoiberg hire at first and I was wrong. TJ could be fantastic, but we won't know until he gets a shot.

TJ will be the HC so JP can get back the control of the athletic dept.
If this is the case, and implies that JP doesn't like Fred being in charge, maybe it explains why he wants to go NBA.

It's almost June. I'm not sure what you're expecting exactly. Florida hired Michael White.

Can't get a whole lot more bare past this season...

They'd still have Juco recruiting this summer, some HS recruiting to prepare for 2016. ISU would be in a lot better shape than the last two coaching changes.

And it's also not too much of stretch to think ISU would go into 2016 with one of the best back courts in the nation.

Fred is not going to comment on a job that is not available at this time. Saying "I don't want the Bulls job" doesn't end speculation he is a top candidate. And if he then does leave, he looks bad. Silence is the best strategy until the Bulls have an opening.

If Fred was staying he would have commented by now. That much I know.

TJ could be the greatest coach ever... he could also be in way over his head for his first head coaching gig at the collegiate level. That sure seems like a risky proposition to take with the trajectory of the ISU program currently. Risk it all on an unproven head coach or go out and see what more seasoned/successful coaches are out there.
