Really not sure what you're getting at there. There's nothing that suggests a damn thing with any certainty, yet the majority of this board has already jumped off the ledge.

How so? Everyone seems to think it's already a done deal, despite the fact that there is absolutely zero evidence to suggest that's the case. That's the knee-to-groin mentality at work, and now if Hoiberg does ultimately leave, those people will say "see, I told you so," when there still is no evidence to support the theory that it was already decided at this point. He might leave, but that doesn't mean all the people who think he's already gone are actually correct. They're just throwing darts at the wall.

It's just as likely that Hoiberg is listening and hasn't made any decision either way, as it is that he's already accepted a job that technically isn't open and he's just waiting until an appropriate time to announce it.

Just so everyone knows: ^^^Hawk Fan^^^

Drat, you ruined my maniacal plan. It's true, I'm a Hawk fan who has spent the better part of 5 years trying to infiltrate this site as a sleeper cell. Now that my cover has been blown and you all know I'm an Iowa fan, I don't know what I'm supposed to do. This was just such a closely-guarded secret.

You're a journalist who has begged us for page views. I'm sure it was a really good article.

This sucks! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!

It's like watching your wife flirt with another man. Except worse.

It's more like you broke or lost your phone. You think the worst is happening and lose your mind when you see others on theirs.

I'm not saying to get on Fred...ok...bad analogy. Moving along.

I realize it's no secret, but you telling cyclones how to feel, in a time like this, is just awkward.

Most of those doing the jumping, I believe, is the result of what's NOT happening. Fred's silence leads many to believe that means he has every intention of leaving; if he wanted to stay he would say so is the argument. We want emotion/love of team to be the driver here, but that goes against his life experience. I personally believe the very basic reason for his silence is that his life experience as a paid athlete has trained him to "listen first," regardless of any attachments or emotion.

Which is stupid. Just because he's hearing what the NBA has to offer doesn't mean he has every intention of leaving this year. If he's listening and hasn't made a decision, he wouldn't say anything. If he's made the decision and can't say anything yet because Thibs is still employed, he wouldn't say anything.

Yet fans are choosing to believe the latter and jumping off the ledge.

I wouldn't dare tell you how to feel about Hoiberg leaving. I'm telling you that you're losing your heads prematurely because nobody knows **** at this point (and because I'm someone without a deep emotional investment like you guys all have, it's easier to see that from my perspective). There's a big difference there.

The silence tells me that he doesn't know yet because he would either come out and say he's staying (like Calipari) or say he's going. Why would he drag it out like this if he hadn't made up his mind? I guess that's my 2 cents. Fred wouldn't do this to the fans and players if he didn't know. We hear that he's leaning towards NBA, but things can still change.

He can't say he's leaving because there is no job to leave for at this time. He is either still deciding (hopefully), or he's made his decision to leave and is just waiting for the job to officially open.
