We can't recruit as effectively as possible without a staff in place. Is that not a fact? What am I missing here?

We just left a NCAA "dead period" in recruiting and pretty much the entire month of June is a "quiet period. I'm fairly certain that Coach Prohm can text kids himself. I don't think he needs a full staff to send texts. When the evaluation period opens up in three weeks I imagine we will have a staff in place.

I get that - My point is, why should we wait for them. If they want to stay behind and interview for the HC job, congrats... Prohm needs to move on now and hire his staff.[/QUOTE]
OK boss.

Just spitballing here, but I would guess that he would target one coach from his former staff. Maybe two. In the meantime, he can interview our former assistants as well as any others that he may have interest in.

Wow.

This is Iowa State sports. It's supposed to be fun.

Not a Congressional inquest under subpoena.

The questioning during the Watergate scandal was probably nicer than this.

should have water boarded him

Thanks for the job offer coach... BUT I am going to see how this other thing works out for me over here... If that falls through though... I'm ALL IN

You guys are right. Let's just sit back and watch everyone else do their thing during the final month leading up to the last live period before the majority of 2016's commit. That sounds like a great plan.

We'll get the engineering and physics departments working on the Flux Capacitor ASAP. Your piece of this plan is to find a running DeLorean though. Then when we get that all figured out we'll just have to convince the Bulls to fire Thibodeau sooner than they did. Of course all of this is contingent upon that ahole Hawkeye/Jayhawk fan Biff Tannen being kept from destroying the space-time continuum.

For those hung up on the nuances of President Leath and JP's behind-closed-doors, everyday working relationship, I'm going to shatter your little unicorns & rainbows bubble you live in. Fred Hoiberg didn't see eye to eye with JP on all matters. Matt A didn't see eye to eye with Fred on all matters. You don't see eye to eye with your own boss on all matters. Nobody else needs to know what those disagreements may be, just perform your job well, represent your company/school well, and be a good person. You do those things and the sun will (hopefully) rise again tomorrow.

Now treat yourself to a cold beer, take a nice deep breath, and get pumped for the upcoming season.

Edit: Most importantly, welcome Coach Prohm! Glad to have you here!

I'm guessing it will be a mix of new and current staff. JP made it very clear that he had the teams best interest in mind. The players yesterday talked about how they were impressed with Prohm but also wanted some familiarity with the staff as well.

I doubt he is going to be waiting around for a long time or anything. He needs to talk to the Iowa State guys and see if any of them are interested in staying. He needs to talk to his Murray State guys.

Unlike you, my guess is that Prohm sees the value in having someone on staff who knows him, his system, and how he likes things done. So, he wants someone (perhaps more than one) from his former staff to join him. However, every assistant's dream is to be a head coach one day and my guess is that he wants to allow them the chance to follow their dream.

I thought SP hit it out of the park today.

He's clearly not a polished speaker, but you can tell he's genuine, humble and highly motivated.

He sounded a lot like Fred in terms of philosophy and style.

If he can land 1-2 good recruiters, I have no doubt we're in good hands.

I loved that he talked about recruiting a mix of HS, juco and transfers. That is exactly what Fred said when he got here. We got away from the HS players towards the end, but I think that was as much about Fred's NBA issues as anything. Not to mention, after TJ left, Mann was the only coach with any HS ties.

I do agree with what everything you said, but I don't know if I've ever treated myself to an 11am Tuesday beer before

Thank you for asking a real question. After all these are the questions the fans are asking.

Agree but we knew that would be the answer. It's one of those questions that probably needs to be asked though.
