Wow. I'm going to save this post to reference this season.

We lost half of our terrible defense, so they MUST be even worse this season, huh?

According to anybody with half a brain, our receivers are well above average for Big 12. Not to mention a returning starter at QB who knows before August that he's the guy. With an offensive coordinator who's been in Ames for more than a couple months.

I bet your overall outlook on life is just peachy, must be a real treat to be around!

Hey, if you wanna buy CPR's gypsy wagon wares, go for it. I have a brain with thoughts and critical thinking skills that keep me from believing in garbage.

I like this approach.

I will adopt it and add the spread as indicator of confidence

Kansas -6
Northern Iowa -3
Iowa -2
@Toledo +1
@Kansas State +3
Bowl game +2
@Texas Tech +3
Texas +5
@ West Virginia +9
Oklahoma State +9
TCU +22
@Baylor +24

Mangino in his second year will have a better offense particularly working with a journeyman QB, who I have always liked, by the way. The schedule sets up well to build early confidence, assuming Clones don't breach against one of their in-state rivals. Stadium renovation makes the place even more difficult, particularly for rivalry games. And ISU is always good for an upset up there - this year it's TCU. I believe your fans are way understating the optimistic case for this outfit.

No way ISU beats Baylor worse than OU.

I'm not buying anything from CPR. Actually haven't even listened to him talk about this year's squad.

I am buying an offensive coordinator who has proven he can win in his second season. I am buying a motivated, experienced QB who doesn't have to look over his shoulder after every play. I am buying one of the best receiving corps in the conference. I am buying a defense that LOOKS more well-rounded than it did a year ago. And I am buying that a few plays can go the other way & instead of losing 3 games by a combined 10 points, we can win them.

There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about your alma mater's chances at winning more than 1 game. By all means it's your choice if you'd rather only focus on the bad & expect the worst. I choose to go a different route myself.

Home field will be even more difficult? I actually agree, we've won two home games the last two years. I think we match it in just one season this year.

Haven't had a home upset for 3 years actually, and that's only if you consider a home game against a 7-5 Baylor in 2012 a big upset.

Have we been good for an upset since the end of the Jake Knott era?
Maybe that Texas one where the refs failed to call the fumble/tearaway that Jeremiah George pulled off.

Athlon has them at 6th. Do the writers have half a brain?

What schools do you have us ahead of?

At a glance I'd say it's entirely possible we have the 6th best WR group in the conference but still in the top 25 in the whole country.

Well I don't know how Athlon comes up with their rankings, but considering they compile info for & rank 128 teams on multiple categories, it wouldn't surprise me if they underrate ISU in a few of them.

IMO, I'd put Iowa State's receivers behind Baylor & TCU. ESPECIALLY if you're looking at top 3 receivers for each school.

I believe you are blowing smoke (probably from CO) up our butts.

We will be better but still max out a 4 wins.

I appreciate you trying to make us feel better though.
