ROFL! Why the **** give him a raise for no reason? He literally just got that contract. Maybe keep him for the year he's signed, and then Prohm can decided if he wants to keep him around or not. Then you can talk raise.

Because you want him to stay, and presumably he'd be asst head coach.

Because the top recruits he's going after might bail and follow him if he leaves

I'm kind of disappointed with CF. The previous 4-6 weeks everybody had sources, but now nobody has anything on the assistant coaching search. Did Fred take the sources with him to Chicago?

What? He doesn't really have an option. He just signed his contract, he wants to be here. The one with a choice is Prohm. It's his choice for Otz to be here or not. There is literally zero reason to give him a raise right now. Zero.

If they are interviewing internally, it's easier to keep it quite.

You would pay TJ more because at least some of the reason he came back was Fred. Fred coaching him is an asset for ISU and now that that is removed, there is less making ISU a better job than another random P5 job or an HC gig at a small college.

You're an idiot if you think Otz was clueless about Fred potentially leaving.

Yes, but you could give him a raise because he's a really good recruiter with Midwest ties, and you're behind the 8 ball due to Fred essentially not recruiting for the last 1.5 years.

Our roster has some serious problems after next season, and it's really important for Prohm to get a staff that can recruit.

This is a big hire for JP and Leath.

If it takes a raise, to keep the guy who was next most likely to be the head coach on staff, you should probably give the man a raise.

Because recruiting is not a one year game?
Because nothing tests the "wants to be here" more than going cheap?

Don't be stupid, TJ has plenty of leverage. It is late in the game and we will not get anyone better. He also knows we need him to get guys to sign with ISU in upcoming years, but that he will have plenty of chances to leave prior to them signing. It would be a blow to keep him on staff on bad terms just to see him leave ASAP.

It would be shortsighted to use our leverage for this current year. If you want TJ on staff you don't fret over what is a fairly minimal increase.

You're an idiot if you think Fred told him he was 100% leaving.

I'd bet anything Fred told him he was considering leaving and it was a win win. Either he coaches under Fred or he get's a great shot at the job.

Coaching under a random coach is surely less appealing to Otz than under Fred.
