Yes.So you aren't complaining about the salaries of our current staff but about the current staff itself?

Yes.
Yep, going from 218k in Seattle to 275k in Ames, IA is more like a 100k raise when factoring in cost of living.
I have no problem with these salaries, but agree that if recruiting goes well this first year they will all need raises next year if we want them to stick around.
JP is saving some big money from Hoiberg and his staff to Prohm and his staff. And it better not all be going into the men's cross country program. He's going to need it to make a splash football hire when he possibly has to let Rhoads go.
Otz was making $218k at Washington, I think he'll survive with 275.
This is about $150k more than we spent on assistants last year.
FB season's not even started, and you're already firing CPR. I know almost everyone on this tie has lost faith, but let us give him an opportunity to regain that faith. Anyway, I fify.
Washington has no income taX...Im pretty sure thats higher than last time Otz was here though. I think he was 225k or maybe 250k. His next recruiting class should get him a raise and based on year 2 of the Prohm era if its good....then these salaries neeeeeeed to go up. If they bomb next years team....then they are over paid.
So we think BIG12 tournament is worth twice as much as the regular season title per the $$$$s?Also, the 275k and 235k are just the base numbers. That's what they get if the team is **** terrible. Big 12 tournament title: $21k / $18k Big 12 regular-season title or NCAA at-large pick: $10k / $9k Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final Four, championship: $5300 / $4500 per round So win it all in KC and make the Sweet 16, and that $275k jumps to just over $300k.
Not really looking to argue with you directly, but I'm one of those people tired of seeing our coaches leave for other places. Put our money where our mouths is. We all want to win supposedly, but no one is willing to open their check books. Farmers got money, you aren't fooling me!
Washington has no income taX...
Exactly but they better prove themselves for 2016-17...if they do then lets give them enough reason to stay. TJ making 275k in iowa as opposed to 218k with the cost of living out there is more than a 57k raise its more like 75-80k with cost of living. He should be more than happy.
According to this cost of living calculator, $275K in Ames is equal to $371k in Seattle. http://www.bankrate.com/calculators/savings/moving-cost-of-living-calculator.aspx
So in a couple months he has gone from $218k to $371k in "seattle" dollars. I would say his move back to Ames has been darn successful from a financial standpoint.
No, I think most are thinking it is low based on how relatively little we are paying the HC in combination with how big and immediate our needs are. Imo after we hired a guy like Prohm, we needed to pay as much as we could afford (sorry XC and T&F) to make up some ground on the recruiting front. Instead we a guy from Loyola and another Murray Stater.
Berry must be a hell of a special assistant to the head coach to get $120k. Tough to get him to leave his old job and come up north, I suppose. Must have been critical in getting Ernst.
Seriously? He's been given a ton of opportunities and just makes the team worse each year. Rhoads should've been gone after the bowl loss to Tulsa. If you are one of those "let us give him an opportunity" people this late in the game, you're way too patient.
Back to basketball, there's nothing wrong with these salaries. I'm sure there was room for raises. If this staff hits a home run this year and gets a lot of good recruits, you can bet our assistants will get a raise.
Do you ever have anything positive to say? I mean seriously. So who would you have REALISTICALLY rather seen than the guys that we hired?
Hires become more realistic the more you spend.
What amount would you have been happy with? And what are a few names you think that amount could attract?
Imo we should have expected to spend more on the staff including HC then we did in 13-14. Go until you get a guy like Fuller or Chew.
