Really do not see any scenario taking place of teams leaving for the Pac 12. It is not going to happen.

Let's discuss the scenario of Iowa State winning the National Championship in football.

Did anyone ever think Missouri was actually going to the SEC until it had actually happened? Did anyone think Louisville was EVER going to be in the ACC? WVU in the Big 12? Strange things happen when $$$ is involved, and if it's mutually beneficial to the Pac 12 and 4 Big 12 teams, it can happen.

I just don't understand the lure of the Pac 12? Nobody really pays much attention at all to games out west. You want to be in the Midwest or the East.... those are the areas which get the most viewership.

For several Big 12 schools, if the Big 12 ceased to exist and a major conference like the Pac 12 threw them a bone, you don't see the appeal? In that scenario ISU had better be campaigning for one of those spots.

Lets say you had to take 2 (realistic non-power 5 teams) which do you take if money weren't an issue? Strictly on who you would prefer not who financially would make the most sense.

I would say based on previous success, travel partners, etc...
UCONN
Cincy
BYU
USF
UCF
UNLV
Colo St.
Memphis

I don't like any of them for the B12. UCONN and BYU would be my picks I guess but that geography absolutely sucks regarding the current conference layout.

Which is why BYU won't happen even though people keep insisting it's a legitimate idea (it's not).

BYU had it's chance several years ago when the Big 12 was being raided, but they scoffed and went independent instead. Then we made our bed and expanded east with WVU. Any further expansion will be east, not west.

Well, if the SEC ceases to exist I could see the Big 12 picking up several teams there.

Stormin, leave your ironic stupidity in the cave where it belongs.

If a conference is going to cease to exist, which is most likely - the SEC or the Big 12? And before you go and compare this statement to what I said about the SEC and Pac 12 pillaging the Big 12, those scenarios have been discussed and each conference has already pillaged one team apiece. There are NO scenarios discussed about an SEC implosion like you suggest.

LOL at Houston.

Houston had abysmal attendance and TV ratings when they were in the SWC even when they had great FB teams with Ware/Klingler and the Phi Slama Jama MBB teams. There is absolutely no reason to expect otherwise with B12 membership. They are an urban commuter school and almost a complete afterthought in the Houston sports market.

So you're saying the Cougars would pair nicely with the addition of San Diego St?

1.) The Pac 12 is no longer a factor. Its payouts are less than the Big 12, and its network is struggling due to much lower viewership and subscription problems. Even if it pans out, its not going to come near the SEC/B1G networks. Further, the double time zone thing is a killer for Texas teams in the Central Time Zone...they considered overlooking that back in 2011 but along with complications related to the LHN, it was a non-starter.

2.) Nobody is leaving the SEC.

3.) Houston has no chance of getting into the Big 12 because Texas does not want 5 in-state teams. Likewise, teams like Boise State, Colorado State and Air Force have zero chance. Anyone bringing up such suggestions needs their head examined.

4) The ACC makes far less than the Big 12....making its high end teams vulnerable to cherry picking from the SEC/B1G.

5) The B1G/SEC want new states with large populations to expand their TV networks...that is their fiscal model...and that makes ACC states/teams highly desirable.

6) KU/OU/UT...and maybe WVU...make more money than ANY team in the SEC or the B1G. That will not change until well into the 2020's, at which time new contract negotiations will start for the Big 12 and new expansion candidates will have likely come available. THAT is why the league is stable.

These are the basic facts, so arguments that do not accept these assumptions are specious.

Why are you even linking to the absolute ******** that guy spews to give him pageviews? Just because somebody makes something up and posts it doesn't mean it is a real thing.

I'm hearing smoke that Drake is going to join the Big XII. You heard it hear first. Somebody better tweet this to get the ball rolling on the rumors.

Figured as long as we are going to make predictions that have little to no chance of happening, just as well throw another one out there.

No teams are leaving the Big 12 for Pac 12. Texas will not relinquish their Tier 3 rights. Which rules out the Big Ten as well.

Texas pretty much controls the conference. They are not leaving for the SEC. If anything, the conference will expand. At this time there are no real good candidates.

Central Florida, Memphis, Cincy and BYU are the four most obvious expansion candidates. Could Houston or SMU make sense in 5-10 years....it's possible. But the four schools mentioned above bring branding, TV markets, and a potential recruiting base for the Big 12.
