My starters:
-Monte
-Denzel Valentine
-Taurean Prince
-Nigel Hayes
-Kaleb Tarczewski

2nd team:
-Melo Trimble
-Malcom Brogdon
-Shawn Long
-Rico Gathers
-Isaac Haas

Maybe a bit of homerism by starting Monte. Melo Trimble is going to be really good.

I saw that Cousy list last year and I thought Monte was the best or near the top, but then I watched VanFleet a couple of games and I was impressed with him too. You can see why his teams are good. Nobody was stopping him from doing what he wanted, and that included a pretty good defensive team in UNI. Wonder how many point guards they'll keep on the roster? VanFleet and Trimble and Monte are going to be tough to choose from as far as point guards. Overall, do they cut the tryout list of 22 to just 12 or 15?

According to the USA basketball website it will be cut to 12

Its unfortunate that he will have to miss one of the tryout days due to his obligations with the capital city league

I'm guessing Monte will skip the capital city league, if the commitment is just a game even if the championship game. If you read anything about the games even ISU players showing up is a hit and miss. One night recently both ISU players on two different teams were absent.

The Pan-Am tryouts will surely be the winner in any conflict of schedule with summer league games.

I feel like this could really influence Monte's decision on whether to go pro. It will kind of inform him on where he stands a bit, although his competition is Trimble and Van Vleet, and I don't think Van Vleet has much of an NBA chance.

I do believe I will head over the to practices if they are open to the public. 20-25 minutes from the Olympic Training Center.

Monte's decision shouldn't be influenced by these few weeks. The NBA game is very different than college practice even if it is against his completion for AA honors. MM regular season will determine if he could/should be a first rounder with a hard look at who else is going pro at the PG spot.

NBA scouts will be in attendance and he'll get the opportunity to "influence" the league just by getting on more teams radars this week and thus attention once the season begins. He still has to build his game and convince teams that he is worthy of a first round pick, and it is really a risk to turn pro early with out assurances of getting of a guarenteed contract.

Part of me thinks you are serious, and the other part of me is holding out hope that you are just playing along with my sarcastic post

I think the ncaa regular season and tourney will influence Monte's decision on whether to go pro much more than the Pan Am Games tryouts. If Morris shows he can shoot from the outside on a consistent basis then he'll get talked up by scouts & GMs as an NBA Draft pick. If not, he won't. Whether he beats out Trimble and VanVleet in the summer will make no difference whatsoever. I personally think that Morris is gone after this year. this year's roster is prepped to showcase his PG skills. A depleted roster in two years will inevitably lead to his stats suffering and would hurt his draft stock. Enjoy the last year of Morris this year, folks.

Actually I'd argue the opposite and he could benefit from his senior year more. Monte will have good numbers this year no doubt, but isn't the primary scoring option with Niang on the floor, not to mention McKay, Thomas, and Nader, which is critical for his evaluation.
Man-Man coming back for his senior year where he is the leader and focal point of Prohm's PG friendly offense should bring the best scoring numbers to gather NBA attention all the while improving his size/shooting even more.

Think of the jump Deonte Garrett had once Brackins/Gilstrap left and Fred installed his offense making him the focal point.

@DraftExpress: 21 player @usabasketball Pan-Am roster cut down to 16. Monte Morris, Malcolm Hill, Isaac Haas, Josh Scott, Ricardo Gathers first released.

That sucks but knowing Monte, he'll use it as motivation.
