I'm not calling you a liar Carvers, but I've got 4 years of high school data that completely contradicts this statement

Agreed. I had to completely change from the smart dude my freshman year in high school to the "dumb jock dude" my senior year just to get some dates.

While I would tend to agree with you guys, I'll leave open the possibility that the one girl who wanted a smart guy was homeschooled or something.

I believe the key word is "said." Actions speak louder than words.

Good news is that changes. I way out-kicked my coverage. Almost to the point that I punted the ball in the former Metrodome and it landed in Qualcomm Stadium.

I had other high school girlfriends who wanted to date smart guys. Of course they weren't the cheerleader type and were the "smart kid" crowd themselves so maybe that was part of it.

Herein lies the problem. The smart guys didn't want to date the smart girls either... I will refrain from making the obvious sexist remark here which would be that there are no smart girls in high school. Oh dear god, my daughter will be in high school next year.

I can't speak for other guys, but I've asked DH before about other girls in high school and why he didn't date them (before me) and it was usually because he thought they were ditzy/not too smart. I get what you're saying though - some guys (especially younger ones!) don't want to date someone as smart or smarter than themselves.

CG. You were a nerd. Nerds didn't get pregnant in high school.

I don't think it was known to the others that I was especially smart. I was more of a "quiet wallflower" than nerd. Same outcome though, no babies unless Jesus is coming back.

Let me give you a piece of advice: NEVER believe what your spouse says about things like this. Especially because DH is a nerd. He's smart. Certainly smart enough to know not to tell a full truth here.

Most people knew I was a nerd, because they wanted to copy homework. I'd rather be a quiet nerd than have a teenager right now like the "popular" girls do..

nah, he's telling the truth on this. Mostly, at least. It's kinda like the celebrity who would you/wouldn't thing at this point. Two of the three he liked were pregnant by the end of or shortly after high school. The third was perfectly nice but in a serious relationship from like 6th grade on, I swear. She's married to that one now but I bet had she been single, DH would have made that happen. She was a petite redhead. So I'm kinda thankful she was in that relationship, ha!

Maybe there's others he didn't mention, but those three are about 15% of the female classmates he had to pick from!

This. He's smart and smooth (with the he thought they were ditzy/not too smart thing). No wonder you married him.
