Pretty good stuff, other than calling Hoiberg a former NBA champion with the Bulls. Fred's teams were the worst in the league while he was in chi town.

Overall awesome yes, but they have Hallice Cooke in their projected starting line-up and not Matt Thomas. Don't know if I agree with that.

I think it will be Nader or Matt, who knows. Probably depends if Prohm wants to play big or small.

Also coming off hip surgery and hasn't played competitively for a year. But your point is valid. It will be interesting.

The good part is that if Matt Thomas starts, it's likely because he has made significant enough strides in his game to surpass Hallice Cooke. Cooke is coming off hip surgery but has had ample time to fully recover and get back in the gym. My best guess is it's still Cooke getting the nod over Thomas. My best guesses is to start the season the lineup will be Morris, Long, Cooke, Niang, McKay or Morris, Long, Nader, Niang, McKay. By conference time Burton should make the starting lineup.

Not that this is likely, but is it crazy to assume that Cooke may start and 3sus is our 6th man? It worked out very well with McGee. It certainly seems like an unlikely, but possible scenario.

I think it would be ideal to have long as the 6th man, it'd be great to have a gunner coming off the bench, if he's not hitting shots then he's not out there long which should be his role 15-20 min a game. If Cooke can hit at the same percentage he did as a freshman in our fast paced system wow is he going to be fun.

Lol at UK fan saying Jamel is a 6'6" player who plays big. He's a 6'8" or 6'9" guy who plays like a seven footer. If McKay doesn't get an NBA shot it won't be because he doesn't impress at the combine...which he will.

My bet is Thomas starts beginning of season, alongside either Cooke or Long ( whomever is healthiest)....Nader off the bench due to needing size for subs when George's and Jameel come out....if Thomas plays like capable, he should start all year...if not, who knows...Burton will lend an interesting twist once he becomes eligible...

for those who like to speak of how Thomas has struggled first two years, look at Frank Kaminsky...he was awful first 2 years than turned it around junior year, dominated senior year..not saying Thomas is a player of the year type guy, but saying sometimes guys take awhile to find their groove and play to potential...

Thomas and Kaminsky are WAY different kinds of players and a lot of the time it takes big men more time to develop. I'm not trying to bash on Thomas (he has the best last name since it's my last name as well), but your Kaminsky argument relates in absolutely no way to him and shouldn't be used as a basis of an argument.

Either way, by the time Burton is eligible, it looks like we have 8 guys on this team (possibly 9 if Simeon Carter can contribute right way) in Morris, Niang, Burton, Thomas, Nader, McKat, Long, and Cooke, that will be fantastic players. It's a fantastic problem to have arguing about who is better suited to start for our loaded team.

If you're going 3 guard it's nice if the third guard is built like a truck and Burton fits that about as well as possible. Kantrail Horton comes to mind as that guy, not as tall as Burton but kid was an absolute bull.

With this many athletes could we see some full court press & put some teams away early?

Not happening. You need to be able to play at least 10 guys very solid minutes for the press to be even a little effective in college basketball. Any above average team will be able to break your press and will then expose the mismatch for an easy bucket. Our quick style of play with the ball in our hands should be enough to put teams away early in games.
