Since wins could be infrequent this fall, a little extra indulgence after this W.

A few incidents in Saturday's game made me think, "That is so Iowa State." In other words, the shoe has been on the other foot many times through the years.

My favorite: After falling behind 24-0, KU finally gets into the end zone — then proceeds to miss the extra point.

Any other "ISU moments" you can recall? (It could even be a full-game example).

False start on a fourth and one.

And then missed field goal to take the lead... Bounced extra point off the goal post after first TD.

Another good one: Still a two-possession game, ISU gets the ball at its own 26 with 1:46 left in first half, drives for a touchdown in 79 seconds (aided by offsides on 3rd & 3 at KU 14).

I was going to mention this. At the 35/36 of ISU and punts it away into the endzone. I seem to recall that it was only like 4th and 5 there. I was shocked they didn't just try and go for it.

Reminded me of the Chiz punting from the Baylor 37 yard line in 2008.

If you can find it on espn, there's a play by play recap of that game. ISU had some ridiculously horrid offensive series. ISU kept getting false starts and penalties, then would convert the 1st down, but get more penalties, and repeat the process. It was like a 35 yard drive that took 16 plays. I'm probably exaggerating(Maybe/maybe not), but it was easily the most futile thing ever.

Well, I totally mis-remembered that drive, but here was the thrilling conclusion that ended in a field goal from the game notes.
It says 3rd and 0...meaning 3rd and goal. I challenge you to find a more FUTILE redzone trip that ended in actual points than this mother****er!

  • 3rd and 0 at BAY 4

Iowa St penalty 5 yard false start accepted.
  • 3rd and 0 at BAY 9

Iowa St penalty 5 yard false start accepted.
  • Austen Arnaud pass complete to Jamicah Bass for 9 yards to the Bayl 5.
  • 4th and 0 at BAY 5

Baylor penalty 3 yard roughing the kicker accepted.
  • 1st and 0 at BAY 2

    Austen Arnaud pass incomplete.
  • 2nd and 0 at BAY 2

Baylor penalty 1 yard pass interference accepted.
  • 1st and 0 at BAY 1

Iowa St penalty 6 yard false start accepted.
  • 1st and 0 at BAY 7

Jamicah Bass rush for a loss of 2 yards to the Bayl 9.
  • 2nd and 0 at BAY 9

Iowa St penalty 5 yard delay of game accepted.
  • Austen Arnaud pass incomplete.
  • Austen Arnaud pass complete to Jamicah Bass for 8 yards to the Bayl 14, Iowa St penalty 11 yard illegal block accepted.
  • Austen Arnaud pass incomplete.
  • Grant Mahoney 34 yard field goal GOOD.

Seriously, Baylor helped us out with 2 major penalties there inside the 5 and the Clones still only got 3 goddamn points. I hate Gene Chizik.

1st and goal at the ONE...and they end up settling for a 34 yard FG.

DB bites on a fake screen pass, but the process of him biting on it actually happens well after Richardson faked it.....meanwhile Lazard glides by him for a 20 yard reception.

^Good lord that 2008 Baylor drive is so Iowa State. I remember that.^

But this is about Kansas, right? Anyone remember Kansas trying to block a punt, so Yelk tucks it and runs for 70 yards? I remember when that happened thinking, 'That's what usually happens to the Cyclones.' Wasn't that against Kansas? I can't remember for sure.
