I just went out this morning - caught 83 fish. Bunch of small bluegill, about 2 dozen nice bluegill, a dozen crappie, and half a dozen 2 pound bass.

Fun day

Anybody else fish?

What'd you do, drain the lake, and scrape them off the bottom?

Might as well have - they were spawning. I actually drove down and went with my dad.... he hasn't been out fishing in a while, so I thought I'd show him how it was done.

You know, bluegill during spawning season are pretty gross. If you've ever squeezed one, you'd know why.

Not to diminish your feat, SH, but bluegill are some of the dumbest fish around.

When I was a kid, I used to go down to the dock with fishing line around my finger, a hook, and a hunk of tinfoil. I could catch bluegill for hours with that setup, one after the other.

But they're fun. And in 3 hours, 83 ain't bad.

That's why we went after bass and crappie.

Something fishy about this whole thing!

Maybe somebody got to the bluegill, and influenced their decision-making. That is a lot of sudden decisions for them fishies.

I think I grasp your metaphor...and yes, I believe Wesley, much like the dim bluegill, went for something shiny dangled from a hook.

Bluegill are rather dumb. I can catch one, throw it back in, and then watch it go after the same worm.

Now, if you catch the same fish more than once, does it count as catching more than one fish?

I wanted to fly fish this weekend, however, due to the runoff and all of the people camping, I am sitting this weekend out...think I will check my gear though...

It doesn't take courage to catch most fish. But only truly determined anglers will keep their lines in the water while a 1,200 pound brown bear demonstrates interest in the same fishing hole. The rivers in Western Alaska are full of places where you can cast for stupendous salmon, and which also just just happen to be prime bear viewing spots.

Who's dumber? The Blue Gill or the Fisherman hanging out with a brown bear?

As long as the fisherman mind their manners and keep their distance, the brown bears are inclined to do the same. And for that rare circumstance where the bears don't do the same, a gun offers protection.

These are my biggest catches...not sure if i uploaded the pictures right, it was giving me problems. The king is from the Kenai, and the Halibut were caught off of Homer Spit.
