The leadership of this program is looking worse by the day. A feat that should be noted as impressive as it already looked like garbage.

Hell, if we can't be entertaining on the field, we may as well be entertaining off of it. Soap opera time!

I agree he should of told the players first, but there is zero chance the news did not break before 1:30 (when the players are due in), so this is CPR getting out in front of it. This is much better then rumors flying for a few hours before it becomes official.

How many Offensive coordinators do we need to go through before someone realizes that Paul is the issue?

I would say envision another spat with Sturdy....Rhoads must be a real Control Freak to go thru this many OC's.

Just another manifestation of the dyfunctionality that dogs this football program.

Everyone on this board thinks he's the issue. Jesus.

Like anyone Paul is trying to save his job. It's not likely that he will. But I'm not sure why you would expect him not too.

This is what the death throes of a soon-to-be-canned coaching staff looks like. Desperate times call for stupid measures.
I bet Mangino told him to **** off and quit.

This is my bet also, hence why Rhoads hadn't notified the players yet: it could've just happened within the last couple hours, and Rhoads hadn't really had a chance to sort through it all.

He was never going to be fired mid-season. That might be what you want to happen, but it wasn't going to happen.

I actually don't, though I think it's likely we'll need to move on after this season. I just thought the potential conspiracy theory was too delicious to pass up.

Cotton-Moya likely done for the season and Kenneth Lynn suspended for the remainder of the season

Yeah, because Mangino's been such a ******* genius the past two years.

And Herman? And Messingham? See the common thread here? Funny how Mangino and Herman were/are offensive geniuses until they got here.

I think this is good news. Mangino is not the sole problem, but he hasn't done anything good here either.

I also think this means we look like a power football running team with Lanning at the QB going forward, vs sideways passes and trying to do a spread passing offense with SR. That's what I get from reading between the lines.

It is hard to get all the players together to tell them the news in a way that doesn't let it leak to the media. This decision was probably made late yesterday or this morning. With the exception of calling a team meeting before the presser (which would conflict with classes, other schedules, etc) it would be difficult to do. IDK if you can really blame Rhoads for that.

Overall I like this move.

Yes, Paul could be the problem. He's likely going to his job. But let's not act like what Mangino was doing was working. Now maybe it was because Rhoads was doing what he wanted to and Mangino wasn't. Or maybe Mangino was doing what he wanted and Rhoads wasn't. Does it matter? As head coach for the next 2 months, Paul can do what ever the hell he wants to.

Desperate times call got desperate measures. If this makes us a better program then good. I've not been impressed with the offense this year. The only time I was actually excited about this offense was the second half of the Baylor game.

If it doesn't work out then we'll get a new coaching staff. I applaud CPR for at least trying to do something different.
