Now you've got me speculating about wontons. Mmmm, wontons...

cream-cheese.jpg

***** please, those are rangoons.

This is no speculation, "Wontons are delicious,"

Except that this is crabmeat rangoon...Now I am hungry, damn you.

Dear Ames area Chinese restaurants,

You're welcome for the uptick in business you're about to witness over this lunch hour.

Sincerely,

roundball

Couple things:

Went down this morning at the coaches game plan meetings. Players have Monday off except for lifting, so there wasn't an opportunity before the press conference to get them together. Sturdy should have been the OC when Messingham was made the OC.

Eh, we'll see what happens. This just means MM was let go a few weeks earlier than anticipated. No biggie. The second half of the Baylor game was nice but Baylor didn't prepare for Lanning as QB. Texas will be ready.

If ISU wanted to get out in front of the story before the media started to hear things (which ISU successfully did), there was no way to tell the players first.

Tell the players at weight lifting, or at least by text or something early, then release a press release almost immediately. CPR could follow up at the press conference.

is this 1985? People have these things called cell phones now, you can even send group texts! You guys should look into getting one.

Given Paul's stance on Twitter....can one even group text from a Jitterbug?

It's interesting that CPR said that "i'll deliver a good message to them"
He is owning his decision.....

I do think there was a change to the play-calling and Mangino too offense and resigned..... Talking about that piece early he mentioned about making a change to offensive side and that was not accepted by Mark....

They don't all lift at the same time. it is staggered throughout the day with the first group being at 6 AM (before this happened).

Maybe the players are going to be happy so they don't care.

See Curt's post. Probably couldn't have done it at weights.

A text would have been a cluster and poo would have hit the fan all over twitter and social media before anything could be said at the press conference.

Agree. Had an OC with P5 experience on staff and passed him over. Sturdy's offenses in Pullman were OK. Did not make sense. Would be ironic if this move jolts the team to 3-4 wins to close the year and saves CPR's job. Saturday is going to be very interesting.

Yes, Texas will get more tape on Lanning now from the half vs Baylor. BUT they won't know any of Sturdy's tendencies, and he may toss out a few new/unique sets/formations that they have not prepared for at all.
Hell Maybe we'll see Lazard in the slot, where a lot of people ave been clamoring for.

I'm glad Lanning is starting. The results this week may be a mixed bag, but one that ALL of Cyclone nation will either be showing up for and tuning into.

Rhoads' tire fire is pretty impressive. Look at all those people he has thrown under the bus.

How is Rhoads throwing Mangino under the bus? Rhoads is the head coach. If his assistants don't want to do what he says, why should they be kept around?

By all accounts, Rhoads gave the reigns to Mangino. But when the results aren't there, Rhoads looks like he stepped in and said "Let's see what Lanning can do". And then the OC doesn't want to play the QB that helped us play about as well offensively as we have all season. No shame in moving on from that.

You can also tell from the way CPR made the opening comments and his deminor that it was pretty heated.

Thanks for explaining that. Does anybody know what other schools usually do in these situations? I just feel like some attempt to text them would have bee worth it, but maybe I'm wrong.

That is exactly what they want us to think the situation was. Based on the way Rhoads has acted and his statements related to Lanning, I can't believe that is true.
