Sorry to start another thread but this may be one of my all time favorite press conferences for CPR.

Exactly. I mean Rhoads isn't unusual in the fact that he's competitive and wants to win, but the ******** from many, many posters acting like he doesn't give a **** was annoying. He may not end up keeping this job. But the guy wants to win. He made the ultimate gamble by firing the OC in the middle of the season.

Of course this Texas team isn't that great and is one dimensional. But hell so is Iowa State. And it wasn't the close game that we were all probably hoping for. It was a complete domination. Texas got past the 50 one before the last drive. ONE TIME. They had so many 3 and outs. Before the last drive, they had 29 yards of offense in almost 28 minutes of the 2nd half. 28 ******* yards.

Think of how bad our offense has been at times over the last 3 years. I contend that there have not been many times our offense was as bad as Texas was last night. That's good defense.

I love Rhoads and hope he can pull it together, but I am not a fan of the whining about recruiting all the time. We all know ISU has disadvantages, doesn't mean as the poster child you should complain about it numerous times to the media.

How often does Rhoads really complain about recruiting disadvantages? Once a year? Was he wrong?

Not typically a negative nancy on here but Rhoads comments about his program having two wins against Texas... They are 5 years apart. Not exactly like we are on a run. Okay, I'm done.

Sore winner/low class move by Rhoads. Obviously very defensive about his job. The win speaks loudly by itself.

Rhoads is the only Iowa State Coach to have any wins over Texas.

I guess if you don't count the robbery that occurred two years ago by big twelve officials he does. That doesn't support your point though does it.

What gamble? There was no risk in doing it, do nothing and ride the ship to the bottom, or do something that you might have time to get the lifeboats launched to survive another season.

Meh, I didn't really see it as anything but just emoting. Also, it's a way of praising his guys (both players and coaching staff) - even though we have less talent, we played with heart, discipline, etc.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

Uhhh...he doesn't complain about recruiting like what your saying. What he said Saturday was stating a fact, that because of their name being Texas they can and will get better recruits. If you don't think getting recruits to Ames is harder than Texas your out of your mind.

If Iowa State had laid an egg offensively and Lanning played terribly, then there would be even more chatter.

Sounds like CPR had wanted to make the change a while ago and Mangino kept refusing to do so. CPR could not wait any longer.

Texas is like Nebby. They have slipped a bit.

Texas beat Oklahoma. Nebraska has not beaten anyone. Nebraska just got beat by Purdue. Nice try. But Nebraska and Texas are not the same.

Was CPR defending himself? Sure, and I don't blame him.
When everybody is saying how bad of a coach you are, you don't have enough talent, you've lost the team, etc., I'm sure he could not resist. That was domination of a team that did look they had bad coaching and may lose the team with the kind of effort they showed. And to say Iowa State should not beat a team like Texas with the money they have, is factual.

Why complain about the distance of the airport, or any other recruiting disadvantage there might be when you have "Ankeny tough" just 20 minutes away?

Not a fan of the defeatist attitude of CPR with regard to recruiting. If you are not able to get talent, maybe you need to change your recruiting tune. CFH and CSP are bringing talent to Ames to play basketball. If CPR can't relate well to high school kids, he needs to find some assistants that are able to relate to kids to get talent here.
