With 1:22 left why didn't we take a knee to end the game?

Any football minds have an idea?

The charts say that when the other team has one TO left, you start kneeling with 1:24 left on the clock.

I went back on the DVR and the clock was at 1:31 when we took over the ball. You can't end the game there, but if you're so inclined, you could punt on 4th down and leave them around :10 left on their 20 yard line.

And make them go 80 yards in 10 seconds.

Hell with kneeling with 1:22 left, why not kneel after they score and it is clear you are not going to try to score.

But we've also seen many cases where QBs will stand for a 3 count or run into the back of their o-line. 1:20 comes off with the play clock. That means you need 11 seconds of play time. That shouldn't be hard to get out of your o-line.

Think we have seen in 3 games why Sturdy is no longer an OC anywhere else. Nobody watches the downs in OSU game and now we don't take the knee to win. This is the most pathetic coaching staff I have ever seen at ISU - it is embarassing the ways they find to lose. It is a clown circus and hope the "coaching" (being kind) staff resigns to save us the money to fire them all. Playing one half AGAIN and not to lose is CPR strategy. Drank the kool-aid and bought tix this year again, lost hope with SBR and then regained it with JL. Only took CPR 2 games to ruin that. Done with fb until he is gone. Coaching search should already be started and new coach announced after all bowl games. Have no idea why JP keeps this farce of a staff employed. Enjoy the CPR crapfest for next year if he stays. I won't!

What you do is hike it to the qb and have him run to the sideline until he gets tackled, even if you lose 10 yards. Do that once and then you can kneel the rest of the game away.

I really can not believe what I just saw. Any coach, from 2nd grade flag football to the NFL, would simply kneel and let the clock run out. You say it won't run out completely? WHO CARES. They would have to go 80 yards in 10 seconds with no timeouts and score a touchdown.

It made me so sick to my stomach to watch that. I feel so bad for these players. Poor Warren blaming himself. Sorry, Mike, but in that situation you should never touch the ball.

It takes coaching incompetency to an all time high. Like, that last 3 minutes will be shown on blooper reels for eternity. Those 3 minutes define the CPR era at ISU. I can't give KSU any credit, our moron of a coach just handed the game to them.

If, and I mean if, anyone on this site, or in general, still supports CPR after today, you have either never watched a football game in your life, or you are family members. You have to try, and try hard, to fail in that situation.. well done coach, mission accomplished. It's just to bad our players have to suffer for your pathetic attempt at coaching.

Love how everyone is assuming they wouldn't block the punt or the kicker won't drop it or bad snap....etc.

All are about as likely as Warren fumbling twice. Even if he was down the second time.

I put this in the other thread too
If we knee and lose in OT we all complain about not trying to drive the field (Nebraska 2010). It never should have gotten to that situation. It's time to clean house while we have skill players to build around.

And what if he fumbled or bad snap? Both happened earlier.

Can't remove the negatives of those options just because you know the result of the game.

Except there is really not much difference in kneeling and running the ball right up the middle of a stacked box. The only difference is one is risky as hell, and the other is much less risky. That being said, had we taken a knee, KSU gets the ball back with less then 10 seconds left.

Since at least one person seems confused, deciding to knee it would have been a CPR decision, not a Todd Sturdy decision.

Agree. Idiotic coaching.
