I doubt it. But be prepared to be underwelmed with our new coach.

I'm guessing that this is Leath's influence. Jamie probably would have waited. I have very mixed feelings on Leath. I obviously was glad that he allegedly stuck his head in the basketball coaching search. But I don't like the idea of him making these types of decisions in theory. Same thing with this. I trust Leath about as far as I can throw him.

I disagree. Leath as president should have a say in who is the football and basketball coaches. He correctly realizes that those programs are the front door of the university. They need to look good or a percentage of people will look no further...

never feel sorry for a millionaire that loses his job

Oh grow up. I don't think anyone thinks he is going to the poor house or anything. But I do think it is OK to feel bad for a guy who obviously wanted the job and worked hard at it.

The upsets have turned into fodder for the people that hate Rhoads, but I just can't understand. Those upsets were fun. And they are great memories. 10 years from now, I won't remember the last 3 seasons (because lets be honest, dollars to donuts we'll have at least 5 years of similar results), but I will remember how awesome it was to see the Oklahoma State game or watch the Iowa games, Texas Tech, TCU, and Nebraska games.

Clean house and get a new coach as soon as possible to try to keep players.

Get a coach who is going to play power ball control football so we at least learned one thing from this season.

This isn't basketball, players aren't going to leave.

Jamie Pollard appears atop the welch clock tower between two flaming pyres and declaims loudly to his acolytes below

Pollard: We are the men of the plain
acolytes: We have depression
Pollard: We consistently give away football games
acolytes: we do not win
Pollard: We must find a new path
acolytes: who amongst us can bring us glory?
Pollard: *singing* They're playing basketballllll
acolytes: *harmonizing* We love that basketballlllll

Wonder who's going to be the interim head coach. Wally? Sturdy? Ayeni?

Let's think out of the box and do it Varsity Blues-style. How about SBR?

I have a feeling that we are going to get a surprise hire to replace Rhoads. Leath knows exactly how important this is. This could be a Johnny Orr-type situation for the football program where we just outbid another Power Five program to take their guy from them.

I feel bad for him as a person. He is a great guy, and he loves Iowa State. Unfortunately the job of a football coach is to win, and he hasn't done that in a long time.

Re: Paul Rhoads has been fired....

Not surprised. Thought it would be at tomorrow's presser
