FWIW, I have some doubts that the triple option will work against defenses already geared to defend space and speed.
Give me Bo Pelini and his cat.

Going on my 41-year as a Cyclone fan (my Frosh year was 1975), I have been through 7-FB coaches:
+ Bruce
+ Duncan
+ Criner
+ Walden
+ Mac
+ Chiz
+ Rhoads
Convince me -what will be different this time?
We get somebody successful, and he's hired away; most likely the next guy is fired 5-years from now. Sorry, if I'm a little 'jilted'
I think the realistic candidate is Chris Klieman, as disappointing as that sounds.
The best hire would be a disciple of the Urban Meyer/Nick Saban/Bill Snyder type philosophy. Super smart, super organized, super X&O guy, super ability to hire good assistant coaches that buy into the Head Coach's system and recruit the best players possible for the system. These coaches breathe leadership, individual position responsibility and accountability to the team through the entire organization - they don't dance around on the sideline or show up on YouTube or blame players or charts for letdowns...
He is on contract until 2021.
I think he and Fleck both make sense. Fleck would be something different. He kind of has that fire and is a little bit cheesy but it would be different.

I think the buyout is a $100 gift card to Pizza Ranch.
How about a coach that runs the split wing or single wing? Old school with a spinning tailback. You have no idea where it is coming from.
Anything, please
Very different IMO. First of all everything is completely different compared to the spread and you only get one week to prep for it. How many teams in the Big 12 run some variation of the spread? Most of them do.
Big 12 defenses are built to stop a more finesse type game, the spread would be a lot more power. Those hybrid nickel/lb guys would (should) be destroyed with that scheme.
For the most part Big 12 DL's are smaller and quicker, depending on how things go, could be tough for them to handle all those runs destroying them throughout the game.
I am not saying go with the option for sure though.
