When we hired Rhoads I thought it was a great fit, because we needed someone who wanted to be at ISU first. At this time I think we need someone with the confidence and experience that comes by winning football games. Someone that doesn't need a chart to beat Snyder, and also a person who brings a staff with him Jerry Kill style. I would be behind Fritz. That said, I thought Mangino was a slam dunk so what do I know.

If I have to hear how people are excited about getting an FCS Coach any longer, I might just snap. Someone explain to me why people have a hard on for this Stitt guy?

I think its his style of play that interests people. Plus his personality. I think he may be a longshot but we could definitely do worse. I'd take him over a young, inexperienced coordinator any day.

I have zero doubts that Bob Stitt is a brilliant offensive mind..zero doubts. But I'm not so sure if he can recruit the talent to ISU that we need.

Not exactly sure.
I think anyone saying they want to coach at isu right now, probably won't be hired. I am assuming that we have already had feelers to several of our wanted guys already. Those talking probably haven't been contacted.

If you notice when they talk about coahes who are building programs. Every situation is a coach bringing a new offense or a new somthing to a league that has not seen that done yet. See Mike Leach, Urban Meyer, Art Briles all brought new style to their leagues. The guys that are winning with copy cat styles at lower levels will not have success at the big time because the league has already see it. ISU needs to find someone who will bring somthing diffrent to ISU.

I think a lot of us are underestimating the appeal of this job. You can compete and win at Iowa State. It's been proven. I have no doubt we'll get an upgrade over Rhoads.

I agree & Good call on the recruiting aspect. That's what it comes down to at the end of the day.
Is it? If by recruiting you mean identifying guys that can develop into Big 12 players and be successful in your system, then yes. Which largely comes down to hiring a good staff- one that knows and can teach your system, can sell/relate to high schoolers, and have good connections. If Stitt is a good head coach, he should be able to do that just as well as guys with Big 12/P5 experience. I'd be more worried if we were talking about CBB- where you could have a McD situation.

This is a very good point. I think a guy like Fritz would be a good, realistic fit here but if your thinking is correct they may be aiming for someone better. Lets hope so, at least.

Totally agree. At the end of the day you get paid a lot of money to coach football at a power five school...

I mostly agree. The next coach is stepping into a better situation than any in the past, definitely facilities-wise.

With barta copying everything that JP does. Will the captain get canned next year no matter what happens?
