Watched an interview with Fritz, and I think he can be a good fit. My only reservation is that I would like to see us have a funner program and Fritz seems old school like Rhoads. Really, just a detail though.

Would Frost bring in some Oregon University swagger/attitude/modern feel? I'd love that, and I think the players would, too. That said, is Frost enough of a midwestern boy for us?

With barta copying everything that JP does. Will the captain get canned next year no matter what happens?

Fortunately for the hoks Barta understands that 80% of their fan base are mouth-breathing dirt heads from (insert dying craphole Iowa town name). Had he listened to the fans he would've fired Ferentz last year.

Frost was QB at Nebbie and an assistant at UNI and apparently would like to get back to the Midwest. So yes, he has Midwest ties.

i would love love love will fritz to be our new head coach. he has everything that i think is important- experience as a head coach, winning everywhere he has been, and says he would leave for isu. he would be awesome as a leader and "ceo". he has been around.
he wouldn't call plays anyway- he can find who he wants and with his experience is able to change to meet the strengths of isu. that being said- as soon as he says he is interested...it's over. we all know pollard doesn't do business like this. i will be disappointed when it's not him! the other guy i think is campbell.
a young up and coming guy woul dbe a disaster!!

The disaster probability levels of anyone on CW's list are pretty much equal as far as I'm concerned. I think we need to focus on the potential upside with this hire. We don't have anything to lose, we're not trying to maintain anything. We can have patience with the new coach once they're hired.

I think anyone saying they want to coach at isu right now, probably won't be hired. I am assuming that we have already had feelers to several of our wanted guys already. Those talking probably haven't been contacted.

I wouldn't be so sure. It's going to be very difficult for a current HC to slip away for a day to interview while they are preparing to play this week. My guess is we send out feelers this week, narrow down the list over the weekend and start meeting with the interested parties next week.

This search is going to be a lot different than a typical Iowa State search IMO because of the ongoing season.

Reading a couple pages back...

While id agree that its unlikely that Miles would come here, its funny seeing those who say he wouldnt be a good hire. He'd be a great hire if nothing else for the fact that he would drive a lot of instant energy. Fans would be re-engaged, players would quickly buy in, and he could hit the recruiting trail selling his own resume to recruits (which would be better than what our program is selling right now).

If I have to hear how people are excited about getting an FCS Coach any longer, I might just snap. Someone explain to me why people have a hard on for this Stitt guy?

David Stategy applied to a coaching hire. Stitt has a high ceiling and a low floor. We take our chances that he would be completely out of his league for the possibility he'd turn ISU into a legit national program. I think it has its appeal.

Do we think we can actually get Frost? Isn't he a perfect example of someone who will get swept up by other programs? I realize this is a long thread and I'm way behind so I apologize if this has been addressed.

I've been on the Fritz bandwagon for awhile. Not only a power running scheme but also ties to some of the top JUCOs in the country.

CW has said from a source he might come here. I've heard others say he would not and is more interested in Syracuse. So who knows.

My thoughts are, we have already had some conversations with some. Either search firms, JP flying out there or to an area where their game was. Sneaking away for a couple hours is not impossible. Sunday morning brunch somewhere works.

JP knows we are not a destination job and we are partially limited on budget so he can talk to guys that wouldn't draw the attention that a miles would. If Pollard and the Montana coach were eating in Cheyenne or Omaha, how many would instantly recognize them.

I want a guy that has been a HC elsewhere and won. Not some 'up and comer" that is going to **** himself once he realizes how hard it is being a HC.

Sign me up for Willie Fritz. HC experience, won everywhere he has been and seems like a passionate guy.

JP is not going to our game, right? Thought I read that somewhere.

If that is the case, he could easily fly to other schools/game locations Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday morning for meetings with potential candidates. I don't think it'd be that crazy for a coach to slip away for a few hours if JP goes to them.

JP have a coaching search disguise? Mustache, wig, briefcase full of cash, and a gun?

I used to think this way, but I've completely switched.

I'd much rather have 3-4 years winning 8, 9, 10 (ha!) games and lose the coach than 7 more years of this.
