Valentine >>>> KU
On that night he was excellent and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him finish the season as an All American Team. Still pretty amusing to see the number of people who are severely downgraded KU because they lost by 6 to Izzo and that team he has, many of whom played in the Final Four last year. they had to play FAR below their ability to end up with that result. Shouldn't that mean that when they do play to their ability that they'll be pretty tough to beat?

KU is same as last year.

Will someone please start a new thread when we actually have news about Diallo? This thread has turned into a good discussion, but not one that particularly interests me.

You didn't read that, did you?
Is it not a statement by the ISU AD in regards to an international player not being declared eligible (or ineligible) by the NCAA as the beginning of the season crept closer? And did it not include a statement about the school's frustration and disappointment over the NCAA's handling of the case?

Iowa State University Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard issued the following statement Thursday afternoon in response to a press statement issued by the NCAA Wednesday evening regarding the eligibility of freshman basketball player Lucca Staiger:
“We were surprised and disappointed to learn that the NCAA released a statement challenging press reports on the eligibility status of Lucca Staiger without our knowledge. The NCAA has been aware of Lucca’s (amateur status) situation since May of 2007 and has been working with Iowa State University for the past six months to resolve the situation.

You're trying too hard to zing me. Both are public comments as the start of the season either loomed or passed made by ADs stating their frustration with the NCAA in regards to getting a decision made on the eligibility of a freshman from overseas after months of inaction. My comment was made in response to a "letter from the AD is the biggest whiny..." Just showing that the ISU AD, when in a similar situation, has made a similar statement. OBVIOUSLY not every single pointless detail of the two cases are identical.

Just noting that your "neener neener you guys do the same thing" linking efforts frequently are often off-target.

Said 5 game suspension not for academics, but for impermissible benefits. Last year Alexander, and now Diallo. Of course Self doesn't have any idea how these backhanded benefits could possibly happen. :skeptical:

You do realize that there IS no defined punishment in the ncaa policies that add up to a 5 game suspension, right? they have a nice little chart where this many dollars equals this percentage of games and 5 of 31 games isn't a percentage on that chart. NCAA trying to avoid admitting they screwed up.

“I am very happy he’s eligible,” Self said, “but I will say, me personally, I do not agree with the contents of the (NCAA’s press) release. I’ll just leave it at that. This was an academic issue and regardless of what’s been said, it was an academic issue.”
