I'm concerned that if Nader guards Uthoff he'll be sitting early with two fouls in the first half. Hope the refs don't call ticky-tac fouls

Nader is a solid defender, when he wants to play defense. He is a bit slower on the step than Uthoff I believe which could put him in a situation for foul trouble. I think the big thing for tonight is there will be someone who needs to step up and play well off the bench, due to someone getting in foul trouble.

Nader seems to have a tendency to leave his man on the three point line to help out when there is a dribble drive, which leaves his guy wide open for threes because he isn't quick on the close out. I'd assume with him on Uthoff at the 3, they'll need him to stay home on Uthoff to prevent wide open looks, or at least do a better job on the close out if he's gonna sag down to help on interior defense.

I am a very superstitious person and I am seeing trends I don't like:

2014 - Iowa was a 5 point fav, Iowa had a long non-conference home winning streak, Iowa Managers won the Managers game
2015 - ISU is a 5 point fav, ISU has a 31 game non-conference home winning streak, ISU Managers won the Managers game, Prohm is going for the record for consecutive wins to start a coaches tenture at ISU

I really hate that I am a superstitious person.

It's all cool, the line is now ISU -7.5

I'm fairly certain we don't have a 31 game Non-conference winning streak. Unless you're meaning non-conference HOME game winning streak.

Yes, last home non-con loss was UNI in 2011

Remaining home non-con schedule:

Iowa
Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Coppin State

So I'm very confident that a win tonight will extend this streak into 2016.

...this thread is full of stupid. If Nader (or anyone else) guards Uthoff and they can't stop him, Iowa will be the least of this teams problems and might as well caulk up two losses and two 50 point games to Buddy Hield. If Iowa wins tonight, they simply wanted it more and played better.

Relax.

Agree. I think we need to let the coaches decide how to match up with the teams we play. In the games I have watched, I certainly think Uthoff is a tough match up for about anybody. My plan would be to body him as much as we can get away with and try to move him off the block.
Certainly think we can defend Jok if we just stay with him though he is good at running off a screen.

Regarding JM, think he is a gifted athlete and we need to allow him to score in transition and put backs. Not sure it is a good idea to try to run an offense through him as has been recommended. Seems he has a difficult time passing out of the post.
Think tonight will be a good test. If we dominate, I think we will have a pretty good idea that this is a team that can accomplish a lot this season.

Matt T and Cooke will come off the bench and shoot a combined 7-10 from 3 pt. They will also force 4 TO's which will lead to fast break dunks.
Fran uses all his timeouts. Sandstorm rage ensues.
**** Iowa.

So who guards Uthoff? Not sure if Uthoff plays most as PF or SF.

Don't think we have a great defender for him. I suppose Nader or Niang? Nader seems like the best option but doesn't guard the 3 or line particularly well.

Well I would start Carter on him with objective of dropping a forearm shiver on his first foray into the lane. Soften him up a little. (Think Jared Homan).

Then let Georges pick up the pieces.

Not going to hold my breath for CSP to do that but admit it, you would all like to see it.

Oh, yeah - and Dry **** Iowa

So classy. Original too! Now heep on some more ridicule of a young kid's natural appearance in a public forum, and you will have hit a home run. Congratulations. Keep up the good work.

You're on a Cyclone message board. If you don't like it, go to a Hawkeye message board.
