What I told my brother tonight rings true in this thread. No big expectations is much more fun than giant expectations. Just enjoy it guys. We got a big blow today. Time to see what Prohm and the fellas can do. Naz hasn't been himself this year and Matt has been ballin'. I think him and Cooke fill Naz's roll nicely. Will need to stay healthy, but that was something we already knew. To recover from 2 hip surgeries in 6 months was a hell of a task to ask.

Monte, Matt, Cooke, Nader, and Georges can all play guard.

Georges, Nader, and Jameel in the post.

Carter and Ashton with spot minutes.

We will be ok. Just like 13-14. I still think we can win this league. Cannot lose at Tech. Cannot lose at TCU. Cannot lose at KState. Cannot lose at OSU. Cannot lose at Baylor. Win Hilton. Steal 2 of WVU, Texas, Kansas, and OU and we are looking at 12-6 at the worst. I think 13 wins can win the conference.

How many of those games do we lose last year if we don't have Naz? 3 or 4. Essentially everyone thinks that Burton is just going to walk onto the floor and be a major Big 12 contributor. It wasn't as sunny as 9-0 indicated before today's news. 10-8 or 11-7 in the Big 12 is very realistic at this point.

What 3-4 games did Naz win us last year?

If we stay healthy sure. But what happens if Niang or Morris go down? We have already had one scare this season with Niang.

What happens if they both go down? What happens if Prohm quits and Rhoads gets hired as our basketball coach? What happens if the whole team quits the game of basketball to spend time with Naz? What happens if Hilton falls into a sinkhole and is swallowed up by the earth? What happens if the sun collides with the planet?

Good point, that was already very doubtful imo. An average team just got more average.

Highest ranking in school history, coming off a big 12 tournament championship with everyone back and we still have people complaining. Hate to be your wife or kid.

I am once again completely flabbergasted by some of the idiocy in this thread. Hard to believe.

Dude have you watched ISU basketball the past couple years??? 2013-2014 season we played 7 players, won the big 12 tourny, got a 3 seed and made it to the sweet 16. R-E-L-E-X

I think that ISU should be fine. There are a lot of teams that are hard pressed to run up and down the floor with us, even without Naz. I have complete faith in Matt, Hallice, Deonte, and the rest of the Cyclone team to carry on and compete for the Big 12 title and the National title.

Naz is a great asset to the team, but I feel that this will be a blessing. Think about it. With Naz coming back next season, fully recharged, we are going to be looking at one hell of a team next year, as well.

So sad for Naz and feel a bit sorry for myself and all of the other fans who love watching him on the court as well.

Didn't read this whole thread, so sorry if someone has already asked or addressed this. Does he still get to travel to away games?

Dude we would finish prob 9-9 if we lost Niang. This team as it sits without Naz but with Burton will win at least 12 games IMO in conf.. Prob lose 1 in Hilton..that's 8 and will beat TT, Okie st, and TCU on road. There's 11. Just my opinion.

Personally I think this non sense of "we will have to ease Burton along and see how things go is complete bs." I'm betting we see Burton a good 15-18 minutes vs UNI and prob more next few games. Just my thoughts but it feels as though the staff knows what they have in Burton and are tempering expectations.

I'm assuming the idea was these first games were a trial and it was either an all or nothing situation. If he came through this okay with hopes for improvement he would continue...if not then he gets shut down. Seems like the latter is how it played out.

I have no idea if that was the case or not, but it makes as much sense as any speculation.
