I know I shouldn't put KU on such a high pedestal, but they have SO many stinkin' weapons/options. Like playing Lucas down the stretch, when they still had Traylor, Mutchinson, Bragg, and Diallo. Seldon, Graham, Mason, Ellis, Greene, and foreign guy (insert name) ....at any time can make 3's. I think they'll devise a plan and do the best defense on Niang he's seen yet. And with two point guards on the floor, Monte can't defend both Mason and Graham. Graham awful quick for Matt although he'll give it a great shot. I'm probably the only poster that doesn't see us beating them, but hopefully I'm wrong. Any win is 'possible'. Hilton Magic might do the trick.

I don't think any of those bigs has proved they are "weapons". They have Ellis and a bunch of players that take up space at the moment. I'd much rather have McKay and Niang over all their bigs combined

If anyone doubts we can beat these teams. Just remember we lead the majority of the game @OU. In many ways we played the better game. If we can cut down on just a few mental mistakes; yes we can and will beat these teams. Everyone knocks us because of our depth, and I agree for the most part, but if you watched the game last night did you see many if any substitutions in the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half? The answer is maybe 2 for KU. I could argue with Burton in the line up, there is no one in the BIG12 that can match up player-for-player with Monte, Matt, Niang, Burton, and McKay. Do we need more production from Nader and Hallice, absolutely. Do I think KU and OU are a notch above ISU; no. We took probably the best team in the nation, at their place wire to wire. We've lost two games this year. Also, this team has STILL not played their best basketball. Deonte Burton has only played 4 games.

IMO.

1. KU
2. OU
3. ISU

we will split with KU.
KU wins the league and Conf Tourney.
They are really deep.

Then they will be the overall #1 seed and get beat by the the round of 32 or 16.

Side note how terrible was that "block" that Jamari Traylor had on Lattin where the ball was a full foot above Traylor's hand and he basically grabbed Lattin's wrist and everyone including **** Vitale lost their ****? It's just amazing what the refs "don't see" at Teh Pherg.

This. OU front court is below average. If Lucus plays that many minutes against Iowa St, I like our chances much much more.

If Diallo doesn't come around like he's supposed to, this KU team looks much more like their previous years. They will be susceptible to bad shooting night, with nothing but Mason sprinting at the hoop, to bail them out.

KU is only unbeatable if Bragg and Diallo take huge leaps forward. They have good guards but Greene and Traylor aren't scaring anyone.

After watching that game last night I have us no better than 3rd in the conference right now until this team learns to play with more consistency and plays better defense. We don't have depth obviously but we do have the talent in our top 7 to compete with those 2 teams and we already showed it against OU coming up just short but this team is only going to be as good as the effort they put in on defense because offense is not a problem. KU could be scary good by March if their young guys start to develop and find a way to crack the rotation of expirienced guys they have. Diallo, Bragg, and Mykailuk could be starting or at least logging significant minutes off the bench on most teams in the country probably and they can barely get more than a handful of minutes right now with Traylor, Lucas, and Greene already coming off that bench.

Back to what I said the other day in another thread, I could care less about where we are in the rankings because this team seems to play it's best basketball when they aren't getting all the high accolades and have their backs up against the wall as if they are playing with a chip on their shoulder. No one is going to hand them a conference title or a final 4 berth without earning it. Hopefully our guys were watching the game last night and took note how both teams never took a possesion off and played with all out effort on both ends of the floor because that is what it takes to be a champion in the Big 12.

Without Joel Embiid, that's not happening. Niang has always been an issue for Kansas. Ellis can't guard him. KU didn't magically get better. It's pretty much the same team as last season, except Selden is playing at a much higher level, and they're getting more consistent minutes from Graham. Their current frontcourt is not capable of stopping Niang on most nights.

Or as the drunk KU fan said to me last season during ISU-Maryland in KC: "Everything fatboy puts up against us goes in."
