If the cops weren't smart enough to see the key the first 6 times around....

the quote from the Calumet county officer on the stand- "lenk said 'i found a key'". next question- "the key was there the whole time?". Calumet officer- "no. it wasn't there the first time we searched." that would mean lenk planted it. there are also pictures of the trailer with no key, pictures with the night stand/coffee table removed by investigators showing there is NO key.

1. Like I have said over and over, I don't believe the prosecution's version of events, and I highly doubt it went down the way they said.

2. There are ways, including the simplest - putting something down under the victim so blood doesn't get on the garage itself at all, and disposing of it (plastic tarp or whatever). In general, I believe most people exaggerate the inafallibility of DNA evidence, from watching crime shows on TV. People are convinced that there is always collectible, indisputable DN evidence at every crime scene, and this is not always the case.

I think these are good ways to raise reasonable doubt, as the defense did. I just don't find them conclusive either way, asit seems some of you do.

Finding Halbachs DNA somewhere would have been a start. Just somewhere. I don't really care where. Just somewhere. Also, you haven't given us an expert answer as to why there wasn't blood on this bullet.

I don't think that was ever said. Also, I had heard that Brenden Dassey had bleach on his clothes when he returned home that night. I don't know if it is true or not, but they definitely left details out of this documentary to fit their agenda.

I think they had some bleach stained jeans and the prosecution was saying those were from that night. There was stuff left out from the defenses side as well. I thought the documentary had a slant to it but they included the biggest pieces of evidence from each side.

I would like to know why someone had gotten into that vial of blood. I don't fell like that get's enough play. If it wasn't to plant evidence, what was it for?

Chlorinated bleach doesn't destroy the presence of blood. It can still be seen with Luminol. Oxygenated bleach would destroy DNA/blood, but it is color fast and would not "bleach" clothing. There was so much evidence presented by the prosecution that had so many holes in it I still don't see how he was convicted.

How do you know? Did Netflix provide all the evidence that was provided in court? Do you know this for sure?

the film makers have stated repeatedly since the release that there would have been 240+ hours of testimony if every littel thing were put into the documentary. one piece that was left out was two auto traders employees testifying that teresa was worried/scared/afraid of going to avery's. she had been there times before and simply was not scared in the least. also stated that avery answered the door in a towel once and she said something like "Ewww" and they laughed about it.
there were things seen as not a big deal left out for both defense and prosecution.

Who wouldn't be worried about going to a white trash junkyard?

The biggest problem for me is that, with the physical evidence they had, there was no way that the crime could have been committed the way they said it was. There's no chance that Avery could have cleaned up the bedroom or garage well enough that there was absolutely no blood evidence found.

Why the hell would avery kill someone when he is weeks from getting $36 million? let's not overthink this whole thing. WHO had the most to gain by teresa's death and avery being put in jail???!!!

This is what seemed so stupid to me. Why would he do this weeks before his big payday? It seems ridiculous.

No, I don't know anything for sure, but I'm fairly positive if the prosecution had a "smoking gun" we would have heard about it.

I'm only through Ep 6, but to me the largest piece of evidence provided by the defense was that Lt. Co(l?)burn ran the plate numbers prior to the vehicle being found. You can clearly hear him 'Reading' a license plate, and then after the dispatch states it belongs to the missing woman, HE VALIDATES the call by asking if it is a '99 Toyota' to which the dispatcher then confirms.

IMO...this STRONGLY indicates that he knew where the car was...PRIOR to it being found on Avery's property.

If you have the license plate you probably also know what the car is. What I thought was suspicious though, was how Colburn tried to deny it and then looked like he just got caught stealing cookies out of the cookie jar when they played back the audio.

Motive. Did the prosecution ever establish that Avery had a motive to kill Halbach?

I wonder this too. They ended up dropping everything that came from Brendan which included the rape. Murder after rape would be motive, but all of that was supposedly thrown out.

That Colburn guy had about the same IQ as Brendan.

yeah that dude is dirty as ****. 100% sure he had a lot to do with the framing. He just looks dirty. Was very snarky when he knew the answers, then when they caught him in a lie he stumbled around and then said I don't recall. What a piece of ****.

His face was priceless.

How can you take these people seriously when deposed and on the stand they are clearly lying. "I don't recall", "I might have but not sure", "I don't remember that." What DO they remember then???

And to everyone saying "things were left out" the biggest thing that was left out is why was that evidence box tampered with??? We never find out.
