This isn't CSPs fault, it's CFHs fault

You try recruiting players by being honest and not promising them that you'll be there next year. This is NOT Hoiberg's fault.

It has less to do with the fact that Hoiberg left and more to do with how long it took him to leave. We were too far behind the 8 ball to recruit quality kids or transfers. That is where Fred hurt us. That is what hurt our depth more than anything. CSP had little to "go get".

By top 5 program you mean an overrated team?

CSP didn't even inherit a top-5 team, let alone a top-5 program. A tough spot given the unrealistic expectations and how Fred left (late spring and after not recruiting for so long).

I think we also have to question JP's plan.

Who do think he should have hired? He was handcuffed by how long it too Fred to leave. Everyone gave the hire glowing reviews.

He inherited an All American, maybe 2-3 all big 12 players. I dont feel bad for him, he isnt doing anything with this team. Prohm era will be ugly.

Completely screwed the university that gave him a chance. Worst timing possible. Didn't recruit for two years. Lied about the Bulls job for months before he took it and screwed us out of any possible transfers. Then had a press conference to rub our noses in it. I was already disgusted by the lack of loyalty and then when he announced all of the other teams he had wanted to coach I was embarrassed for him. I still laugh at all of the losers Who had their picture taken with him at the football games after he left. Fred did major damage to the program that gave him his big coaching break.

Plan? What plan? His best hire was Fred Hoiberg and that was sort of a shot in the dark at the time. Personally I'm sick of much of the current leadership at ISU (not just in the AD).

No one was going to take this job if prohm didn't. we might have been able to get Shaka if Fred had left earlier.

CSP is horrible. Guy has never even coached a game against a Top 10 team. He isn't using Burton or Cooke nearly enough. He uses his timeouts very poorly. The spacing that made past years teams good it gone. He focuses on defense but evidently the way he's coaching them to play ball screens is horrible. He's slowed the game down and made us a half court team. (Which we are not). He's trying to play Niang 37 minutes which all ISU fans know is not possible (Sorry Georges). The thing we aren't talking about is the ripple effect of this season. Every recruit in the nation that was considering ISU is watching these games and seeing that the freedom on the court they were interested in Iowa State for, is gone. This is sadly the beginning of a painful downfall of our short but amazing basketball run. I truly believe that Prohm has control over all of the things I mentioned. This is on him....not Freddy.

What Cheer, IA
That sounds like exactly Hoibergs problem.

Hoiberg stopped recruiting
Hoiberg left

Those are DIRECTLY Hoibergs actions

One kid backed out and went to saint john's.

Another kid got kicked off over the summer.

They recruited another Babb.

Fred and his staff recruited Vaughn and missed.

Fred didn't stop recruiting.

There wouldn't be a program with out Fred. You should go have a glass of water and hit the hay. You'll calm down by the morning.
