Is Matt Thomas the most improved player?

Last two games? He had 20 points against Baylor and a double-double against Texas.

He's been good all year and the 16 rebounds against Texas were phenomenal. But the last two games, I didn't see any shots that made me cringe like before. I think he missed an open three against Oklahoma but I didn't mind that he took it. And he also seems to be dishing the ball more as opposed to just taking some fade away or something. While he hasn't necessarily gotten the assist, he has dished it off to someone who then rotates the ball for a better shot. I think he is now playing more to his strength, driving to the bucket and getting the basket, getting the foul, or dumping it off to a teammate when he has pulled the defense into the lane. Before, I think he was much more likely to simply choose an off balance shot.

Every player except maybe McKay has improved from last year, which is very nice.

Really? FT and FG % both up. And has a better turnaround jumper too. I would say everyone has improved. Matt had the most room for improvement, which has had the biggest impact on the team.

Not even close. I have seen more Improvement from last season to this one in Matt than in any ISU player in years.

Last year McKay could be that high energy guy because he was not expected to play as many minutes. His minutes have gone way up this year. He played 37 minutes against Oklahoma, and that was even with pulling himself out to for a little bit.

We've already had this discussion. You're VP.
Hmmmm I don't think so. This past offseason I advocated for Thomas being an all-conference player as a senior and an NBA prospect. I'm giving myself the edge on this one, ma'am.

Watching Matt rebound, I think he does a great job of anticipating where the miss will go. Seems like a combination of scouting report and just watching the shot.
Matt is a "ball hawk" - versus OU he contested a shot at the top of the key - then raced to the corner grabbing the rebound beating 2 teammates to the ball. His instincts are excellent & his athleticism underrated.

The last two games make me feel like the light has just come on with Nader, and hoping we continue to see the better choices on shot selection. His is a force going to the bucket for sure.

I agree. He is deadly when doing what he does best. I still don't mind a couple open three attempts to keep the defense honest, but he is much more effective getting to the bucket.

If Naz was healthy would MT still be coming off the bench? Thinking about this makes me wistful that Naz isn't healthy and this team could be having Naz or MT coming off the bench.

Yes I agree, but we get them both next year.:) (silver linings and such)

Does anyone else think it might be a good idea to put Matt on Frank Mason? If not, is it Selden then?
I think it would be good to get frank frustrated as much as possible.
