How long before there is a big movement to stop kids from tenting outside the stadium?

It's already happening there was a stupid article on campusinsiders.com about how kids shouldn't need to camp out in the cold to get tickets to the game.

I'm blaming this on Leath's wife.

But seriously, this is a simple fix: no space heaters allowed. Just bring extra blankets or heated blankets.
?

Not to argue, but where do they pull the electricity from to run the heated blankets?

Let them in the Bergstrom football complex? Tell them no tents or heaters, only sleeping bags and blankets. Couple hours before tipoff, you walk them over to Hilton.

Why Bergstrom? I think the easy answer for this is the eastern portion of the Scheman building right next to Hilton.

That's what I was thinking. They are going to somehow regulate this or maybe it's as simple as no heaters.

That, and they will probably require each tent have a fire extinguisher on site. Its and easy fix, and they would be dumb to completely disallow the tent camping.

There is an easy solution. Lottery based on ticket number. Here is what I would propose...

Each student ticket gets number at the start of the season (1-XXX). On big games (or any game for that matter), the university announces which number is "first" in line. All other numbers line up after that person in numerical order (the number right previous to the "first" in line ends up last). When the arena is full, there is cut -off for those still in line.

While maybe not ideal, no one needs to wait except for the line up based on lottery. It is randomized and therefore, most fair.

Thoughts?

I know ticketmaster used to do this for concerts in the past before online sales were huge.

I strongly prefer that the front of the student section be merit-based (i.e. you show up earlier, you get a better seat) rather than luck-based

ISU used to do a lottery with the KU games, and also had done it for Iowa games and Tech games (when Knight was there). I still like the way it is right now...those who are camping are diehards and deserve to have the best seats.

I don't have a preference...But, with that method, aren't back to waiting in the cold for days?

I wasn't sure how much room was in there. Haven't been to all parts of it.

I think it would work for sure. I'm not sure how psyched the university would be about turning part of that building into a slumber party for parts of December-February though. But there's a lot of room there and they could mark off particular rooms for sleeping, etc.

They did it for the ku game because gameday was coming

May not be fair for a die-hard, that has gone to every game, and would be in line waiting, didn't get drawn, and can't go to the game at all.
