Sounds like it. I love (and own) just about every John Carpenter movie. They're just awesome!
I'm pretty sure anyone 30 or over is familiar with Big Trouble in Little China.
They have a male singer as well, I like the variety in their songs. A little bit like Of Monsters and Men.
Not if you're going by the responses to my paraphrased quote...
That is one of his best along with In The Mouth of Madness. For campy action, can't beat Big Trouble in Little China, Escape from New York/LA, or They Live! Halloween, The Fog, Christine, and Vampires were also very good. If you can find it, an obscure title by him Prince of Darkness is also quite enjoyable. Di you know he also composed/performed all the music for his movies? Highly underrated director.

Speaking of bands that have females in the band but a guy sings. Are you familiar with Silversun Pickups? For the longest time I assumed that the female in the band was the singer, because it sounds like a very feminine voice. But, then I watched one of their videos and it was a dude singing. I was like, what in the what... Made me feel really weird about their music after that, but they still do have some great songs.
Never listened to Monsters and Men. Have you heard of Phantogram?
I saw the silversun pickups in concert, same show as metric, they do have some good songs. The female was the bass player, I believe...pretty awesome.

Silverun Pickups and Metric in the same show. Ok, I'm jealous. Which band opened? I have to imagine it was Silversun Pickups.
