Alex from the Scout site has a great interview posted with Rudy Wade. I won't link or cut nor paste, but some interesting comments and approaches with the new group.

I'm not sure why he didn't post it

Very interesting that they ditched some of the treadmills because there was no equipment for injured players (and no room for it). I'm not really surprised about the strength comments. It's his thing and I'm sure that's pretty standard regime-change speak, but there did seem to be a disappointing lack of push off the ball the last few years.

Sounds like the guys are buying in. Looking forward to seeing the changes this fall.

doesn't sound like they're a big fan of the ever-hyped treadmills of the old regime.

Great interview. I liked hearing what he said about ACL injuries. He's right, the non contact ones are the ones you are more likely to prevent.

I'm interested by their Friday themes. Sad that it sounds like our guys were weak before. Almost like our state of the art gym was being under utilized.

I think a lot of it was style and not that they were under utilizing it. Before they were wanting to focus on a lean fast strength. I thought I remembered an interview when CPR said something about that. He didn't want them to be slowed down by Bill because of what they face in the big 12.

I think the new staff is going to take a build up big strong dudes and try to enforce our will on teams instead dealing with what they throw at us. Only time will tell if it works out.

I've heard multiple staffs tell us we aren't strong. We're just not strong at what this staff thinks is inkstand. Time will tell if it matters.

I saw games against Ohio State, Florida, Missouri, Boise State, ISU, Cincinnati, etc while watching Toledo and I never felt our lines were dominated by any of those schools. What they did have was a few freak athletes at some positions that made it difficult to execute and either sustain drives or stop drives. Therefore, I believe your comment is exactly what this staff will try to do.

This is fun and all, but I'm glad the play by play teams for broadcasted games don't discuss this ****! I'd shoot myself.:realmad:

My father was a strength and conditioning coach, and pretty much everything this guy said is what we did in high school, and we were STRONG. Looking forward to great things in the future from this team. Love the youthful creavtivity in Friday workouts. Great to read this interview.

It's the same reason McKay doesn't look like gathers. I think Tom Herman know his stuff and guess who his strength coach is, Yancy. It's called recruiting.

I tend to agree with you, but I also think Rhoads had his hands too far into the S&C program and that is entirely an outsiders perspective based on his interviews and opinions over the years.

Well there really isn't a need for a squat machine when you have racks to squat in
