So you're saying he can't add weight or muscle?
I'm not saying that, I'm saying not every body can "bulk" up. Could he add 5 lbs of muscle? Yes. Could he put on 20 pounds of lean bulk? Doubt it. Adding 5 lbs of muscle to his body frame wouldn't even be noticeable.
Some athletes (actually a lot of athletes) are hard gainers. Their metabolisms are so high, they just burn everything so fast. I've trained so many tall, lanky guys and it takes years for them to add a little muscle. They get a lot stronger, but not bulkier. It's genetics. Eating a lot and lifting a lot does not guarantee strong, bulky, muscular people.

Fair enough. I wonder how much he benches and squats.

The teams S&C is fine. I'd say it's been excellent over the last few years.

Recruit bigger players if you want to rebound and defend.

If we want to go fast like last year it doesn't matter as much. From what I can see of Prohm ball, we need to get bigger bodies in the paint.

Disagree totally. I've trained beside lots of "hardgainers" and skinny, lanky guys. If you put in the effort, muscle size will come. Genetics is important, yes, but I doubt McKay puts in the effort. You have to do more than just "spend time" in the weight room. And five lbs of muscle would become VERY noticeable on someone like McKay.

I think the bigger his dreads get the smaller it makes his muscles look.

Ernst and Carter were the first two bigs we signed since Percy. Too lazy to look it up but that was like 2012 right?

There are some good research articles that study this very topic being discussed. Without getting into too much detail, usually 25% of the participants saw a 0% gain in muscle cross-sectional area. Meaning, they did the exact same workout as everybody else but saw a 0% increase in muscular size. Meanwhile, more than 50% of the participants saw an increase in cross-sectional area. It's not always about effort (most of the time it is, and I don't know what McKay's effort level is in the weight room) but I do know for a fact that just lifting and eating will not always guarantee an increase in bulk.
And no, 5 lbs on McKay would not be very noticeable unless he gained every ounce of that in his shoulders and arms. If that muscle was evenly distributed, it would account for about a 2% increase in body size. Not easy to see with the human eye.

Yeah but a 6'7 olineman can also squat 500+ pounds
This comes back to genetics. Does McKay look like an OL? Absolutely not. Is McKay built like Shaq? Nope. Not all bodies of the same height are engineered the same.

Just a question. How come all of the other teams in the conference look physically dominant compared to us? Baylors bigs always look like beasts where Mckay looks like he's been a model for Victorias Secret with that feminine body of his. What is Moser's philosophy compared to other schools?

Baylor's bigs, outside of Gathers, tend to always be long and scrawny.

I'd be more interested in the deadlift, squat and clean numbers.

Im more interested to know how many reps he can do with the little spring loaded grip strength tools that might help him hang onto the ball

When you're 6'9", 20 pounds isn't much at all. Every college hoops big should be able to put on 20 pounds in 2 years with the trainers and nutritionists they have available if they put in the time and dedication.
