Whether right or wrong, I do think Hoiberg would be playing Carter 2-4 min in a lot of games.

Why do you think that? No evidence to support that Hoiberg would ever play a bench player just to have more "depth"

Hoiberg wouldn't have had Carter. He would have filled in with a transfer.

I personally think Carter is going to be huge down the road. Looks to me like he's got serious skills. Also looks to me like he should be getting minutes. But I'm an accountant so take it for what it's worth.

We should just come at them in waves.

It's a six person wave.

I don't really know, but the couple times Carter has been in a couple of minutes he has looked more than capable of doing it. Carter isn't being asked to set the world on fire for 10-20 min. 2 min of rest for Niang or someone else could provide a lot more benefit that trying to play everyone with tired legs. Carter just needs to be a body for 2 min and limit any mistakes for as long as possible. Reminds me somewhat of Edozie's roll 2 years ago.

Probably very true. Also I agree Carter will play a big roll.

Edozie lacked skill and struggled catching inside, but i'd be pumped if we had him for 5 minutes of defense and rebounding each half right now.

Everyone would like to have some real depth. What I find ironic is in this same string, those that are adamant on needing to play more guys also note that two of them can never be on the court at the same time. Did you see the plus/minus from TCU the other night? Prohm is in a very tough spot - we literally have one player on the bench who's suitable at this point.

To argue about the depth that could have been created by playing some of these guys (e.g., Carter) is a nonstarter. Did you watch the nonconference games??? This team made way too many of those games closer than they should have been. Then, the same folks would have complained about how we barely beat our noncon opponents. With all the issues just dealing with a few of the core group of six, I can see why Prohm was wanting to play them and figure them out, get them going, etc.

I do wonder why Cooke doesn't give Monte a few minutes off in each half, but it's clear that Prohm thinks we give up too much with Monte off the court.

I trust that the coaches know what they're doing. They do see these guys every day in practice. I expect Prohm will use his bench more when he has suitable options. Was glad to see that stat re: his use of the bench at Murray St.

Watch how Kruger uses Hield throughout the game. He'll take him out just before each of the TV timeouts. This type of proactive coaching needs to happen with Morris, Thomas, and Niang. Carter, Ashton, and Cooke don't need to be in at the same time, just enough to give the starters a breather.

Without looking, my guess is that he had a few more cupcakes in his old conference. It makes a difference when you play a bad team every other game, or every third game. There are just so few games off in the Big 12.

When we have McKay available, I really don't think minutes are an issue for anyone other than Morris. If you look at everyone minutes compared to last year, they are not that much different for the top 6 guys other than Morris. CSP needs to find a way to get him off the floor in the second half for a couple of minutes. I would say we let Niang initiate the offender when Monte sits.

We looked tired at the times Monday, but no one has mentioned the fact that we played a Saturday night game and then traveled to WV for the Monday night game. That is rough at this point in the season.

As for Ashton and Cooke, they need to understand their roles better. We don't need instant offense, we need them to play good D and not make mistakes on offence. Too often the come off the bench and chuck up a three.

So true. But I do hope in a few years we can see he has grown as a coach and doing things a bit differently. He's a hard worker and paid his dues, but he needs to work on his use of bench and role players, call plays for his team, and give his players confidence.

By the way, Ashton and Cooke together are averaging 19 minutes a game over the last 6 games. They didn't play much against WV, but I suspect CSP didn't feel compfortable playing them against the pressure.
