A strain may be a simple stretching of the muscle or tendon. It does not need to be a tear. Don't spread misinformation.

Jacktronic: Slow down Romeo... LOL. I'll have you know that I worked at several Physical Therapy clinics in the U.S. Army so it's not like I'm pulling this out of my ***. Your statement about the muscle/and or tendon being involved is correct. But it's more involved than just some "simple stretching". Heck if that were the case every time an athlete stretches before exercise they are straining muscles..

What he said is true...strains can be very minor and not really "limit" an athlete. Let's wait and see what grade we are dealing with, and if Cooke takes over, our season is over

But you're wrong. If you're going to say that at a microscopic level a strain involves some tearing of myocytes, then I agree with you. But at a macroscopic level, a strain does not need to be a tear. It can simply be over-stretching of the muscles.

Bottom line: There is muscle fiber/ tendon damage. Does that clear it up? "Simple stretching" (and that was what he had said) would not be considered a strain. Therefore, no misinformation given. It very well could be minor. What would scare me is that if Monte were to play it could develop into something more serious. I wouldn't be surprised if his action is limited, to include not playing.

A "simple stretch" would not cause a strain. PERIOD! A ballistic stretch, could cause a strain (muscle damage). This was a situation where there was trauma and the muscle or the sits tendons were involved.

Didn't Travis allude to Monte playing Thursday? I'm guessing you stayed at a Holiday Inn recently.

Oh for ******'s sake, he's arguing your original statement where you said a strain is a muscle/tendon tear. It doesn't have to be a tear.

Someone is claiming work in Army clinics as medical expertise now?
This is a special night.

Some of the best medical professionals were trained in the Military. Hold their licenses and practice in the civilian sector. GTFO WITH THAT SPECIAL RHETORIC YOU POS!

A strain is a tear of the muscle fiber, a sprain is a tear of a ligament. A strain generally is more severe depending on the grade. This isn't something that Monte is going to work through this first game of the Big 12 Tournament and be OK after that. One has got to wonder if a hampered Monte Morris is better to play than not to play? The question you should ask is by playing with this injury what is the liklihood of it becoming worse each game he plays? I have been really pleased by the way Hallice Cooke has destributed the ball and generally overall play. What if Hallice assumes Point Guard duty?

No. Just no.

Hey guys. I stubbed my toe pretty bad tonight. Any advice?

I'll pm you a prescription to help with the pain. I should warn you that one of the side effects of this medicine is that is will cause you to stub your other nine toes.
