Re: If we make it to Chicago:

Most Iowans I know won't feel comfortable walking outside the UC parking lots. Chicago is a great city, but the UC has some rough areas near it. I miss going to the old Chicago Stadium after getting off the Madison bus a few blocks away to get rib tips. Those were the days.

Metra to the Western Ave. Station. UC is a few blocks from there as you can see it from that stop.

Be careful with the "Western" stop though. The Western stop near the UC is from the North or NW burbs. If you get on the BNSF from the West (such as Naperville) the Western Ave stop is down south in a rougher part of town & far from the UC. We recently moved out to the west burbs & know this from experience unfortunately, haha

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

For those of you looking for an option...Do NOT stay near South Cicero. To say the places around Midway are "relatively safe" isn't really saying much. River North is where you want to be. The prices will be a little higher, but there is more to do and there will more fans overall in that area.

In before one game at a time
In before lets win this one first etc etc.........

IF we make it to Chicago: Has anyone been to the tourney there? Whats it like, hotels expensive? I cant imagine the tickets will be expensive given the other teams playing there...aside from Mich State.

Any discussion welcome

Yes, Vivid seats is legit. It's where I've bought most of my football and basketball tickets over the past two years. Never had a problem.

Appreciate it. It'll be my first trip to the NCAA tournament and i didnt want to risk buying fake tickets

I said it earlier but I'm actually pleasantly surprised at hotel prices. Many nice options under $150 in River North.

I'm actually finding the cheapest seats on stubhub as opposed to vivid or seat geek

Does VividSeats have a bunch of fees outside of the value it shows?

FYI: Nobody ever agreed with the guy who said "stay on South Cicero" - I did point out that he stupidly inferred it's dangerous around Midway. Nobody ever said to stay there except one person. Places like River North are about 2 million times better for a visitor.

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

Just using stub hub as my gauge, tickets have dropped in $ since MSU lost. Best I was seeing on Thursday was 130-140 for 300 level, now the same sections are around 100. If we win I'm assuming ISU fans will help correct that market. All I know is if we win you're gonna want to buy seats right away knowing how our fan base travels. Hilton east?

Considering just staying out by O'Hare and using the L to get downtown to hang out, etc. Anyone else doing that?

If the game is going well, I would probably buy before end of game. Going for nosebleeds but is there any section that isu people will be gravitating toward?

I have done that for other games and it's pretty decent. Just be willing to walk a little or Uber around between train stops. Also have to realize your schedule is at the mercy of the train, which isn't bad, but can be different if you are from small town Iowa. You will probably save a good amount of money doing it this way.
