Iowa State has earned it's fifth Sweet Sixteen appearance in the tourney and has the chance to advance to the Elite Eight. I think there is NO question Virginia is one of the toughest teams in the field to defeat. On both the offensive and defensive sides they are LEGIT! But, so are we. I think we have a chance to win, but I think in the end we fall short.

Hope I'm wrong.

I can definitely see Virginia winning, but I really doubt the game is in the upper 80's.

I predict I will make my last post on CF well before tip and stay completely off the site until well after tip, win or lose.

And also,

ISU continues to given no chance by everyone and understandably so in some cases. Just the way the boys like it.

77-70 good guys.

For some reason I feel like this is the season it finally falls together. Get past UVa and then a low seed to the final 4.

I haven't had this much hope for a final four appearance since the end of the ISU/UCLA game in 2000.

I'll say ISU 68 UVA 61 Game is close until the end until ISU scores a double and a triple on consecutive possessions to take a lead with under a minute and then UVA fouls - we make all but one free throw and end up with a 7 point margin.

I know style is totally different, but in terms of quality of opponent I equate VA with KU, whom we handled at home and outplayed for the majority of the game in Lawrence. We will have the crowd advantage for this game, and from all the info i've read, we have the tools to run an effective offense verses the pack line defense.

So if the guys come out focused on D and we do not have an ice cold shooting game, I give us the slight edge.

ISU: 70
VA: 67

Gonna go with two scenarios.

Scenario one (most likely): Virginia's defense unnerves the Cyclones. Brogdon is as good as advertised, Nader and Matty Ballgame get off to a cold start and Gill gets McKay in early foul trouble. Niang does his thing, scores a career-high 32 but needs 24 shots to do it. Virginia wins 67-59. ISU fans give the boys a standing ovation before they leave the arena and drink every last drop of alcohol in Chicago.

Scenario two: Monte and Matty have the game of their lives, and they've had some good ones already. Monte 4/5 from 3, 22 points, 12 assists, 6 steals. Matty 6/9 from 3, career-high 26 points, including six free throws in the final minute to ice it as ISU upsets Virginia 71-67. Those two make up for a bad night by Nader and Niang, who combine for just 16 points being hounded by Brogdon and Co. Afterward, ISU fans give the boys a standing ovation before they leave the arena and drink every last drop of alcohol in Chicago.

I think it's going to be a close one - five points or less. I can't pick against our guys; not now that they've come this far. ISU 74 Virginia 70.

If Matt and Monte combine for 48 points, there is no way we only score 71. Even on a cold night, when is the last time Niang scored less than 12 points? That means that Nader + Burton + Jameel + Cooke combine for 11 total points. If Matt and Monte hit those numbers, we should top 80 and win with a cushion
