I'm willing to bet the Refs will let the teams play. I expect Virginia to get physical and think we'll need to as well. last nights Kansas game against MD. the tv color analyst made the comment that the player shouldn't have been called for a foul. he said " no more contact than being on a subway in New York....why was that a foul. Game got pretty physical after that. Kansas was the better team and won.

Iowa St is in an odd spot. On one hand they don't want it called tight, because they can't handle foul trouble with a short bench, but on the other hand, they don't want it so physical that they can't get in a rhythm on offense.

I go back and forth, too. In the end, the physical game mostly hurts us on offensive rebounding. It's not like WVU killed our offense. They just go so many second and third chances.

In addition to the KU game, the Miami/Nova game was really physical last night as well.

I have a feeling the refs won't do us any favors.

VirginU will be hand checking and bumping all night, but won't get called because, "they play great pack line" defense. On the other end, Niang will get called for at least 2 touch fouls and Nader will contribute to 3 three and1's on questionable foul calls.

We have shown we can play tough D for 25 seconds. The last 5 seconds has killed us all year. If we keep our hands in front and don't lunge we should be okay. Too many times we bailed out opponents with careless fouls. If we do that, protect the second chance buckets I like our chances. If not I see a Baylor type game that is just a slow death.

Yea, that KU/MD game was very rough. I think that is fine with me. Hate when Georges gets hit with ticky tack crap.

I think a loose game favors us because Niang can't sit for us to have any shot and Nader and McKay need to stay out of foul trouble too.

The worst of both worlds would be for the "physical" team (UVA) gets called loose, and the team that tries to match their opponents physicality (ISU of course) gets called tight.

We've seen that MANY times.

Well, unfortunately my worst case scenario is exactly what happened tonight, IMO.
