I love Fred but I hate the Bulls and their fans. I tried cheering them on this year but I can't deal with them still living in the 90s. I wish he would've went to Minnesota. Our fans are happy to be above .500 and going to the playoffs.

I think Minnesota would have been a better fit too. Tons of young guys, lower expectations and he could actually work on building something. Too much pressure to win now in Chicago for a 1st year coach.

Not exactly sure.
Foremans job security could be Fred's. If Foreman gets let go in the next year, Fred will need to be at least a 5 seed or punch through first round to get a third.

Fred's getting what he wanted. The dream and all. He's a good coach, so I am sure he'll turn it around soon enough. Hell if they make the playoffs, they can win a series against Toronto.

The author does have a point though. Fred wasn't brought in to rebuild. He was brought in because the old guy couldn't win s championship. I don't blame Bulls fans for being ******.

Fred should have left for T-Wolves.

This x1000. Younger, more athletic players that seemed like a perfect fit for his system, and they had the top pick when he took the Bulls job. The Minny job wasn't open yet but he could have waited for it. Instead he gets an old, injury-prone veteran team that is set in its ways and was always going to be resistant to Hoiball. Couldn't have been a worse marriage.

i would bet my life savings that if Fred wanted the Timberwolves job last year he could have had it. I think that flip probably wouldn't have minded going back to front office even if he hadn't gotten sick

The author sounds like one of their whiny fans. Not very knowledgable. Thibs wouldn't have done any better with this team with the amount of injuries they had. He probably would have had more injuries with how hard he worked guys. The roster is too old and their star isn't a good fit for Fred's offense. Also McDermott was a bad pick and Mirotic had a bad second year. Didn't look like he improved. They need a complete rebuild but doubt the management will do it bc they aren't very good.

Not sure what Fred thinks is worse, those 10pm recruiting calls and being interrupted while at the Ames eateries, or reading that you 'stink' as a pro coach.

Yeah those players loved Thibodeau, and you can't get more opposite styles from Thibodeau to Fred.

It would be like if Iowa St hired Ben Jacobsen after Fred. If you thought the players had a hard time adjusting toward Prohm, imagine them having to adjust to a slow it down grind it out defense style.

I believe both styles can effective, but when players are accustomed to one way, it's not easy to get them to change in a few months.

I think he absolutely would have had more wins. That's what he's done each of the past few years, grind out regular season wins just by outworking teams. I don't think they would have any shot at being a title with Thibs there either but they would certainly be in the playoffs.

The problem with the Bulls is they are in denial of where they're at as a franchise. They aren't going to contend for a title with their current roster. It just isn't going to happen. They need to accept that and embrace Fred and start the rebuild.

Fred put Cyclone basketball back on the map and for that I am thankful; however, Fred is where he wants to be living his dream. It appears Fred did not analyze the Bulls roster good enough. The Bulls are not an up and down the court team and they struggle with Fred's style. In addition, it appears that most of the key guys are not professional enough to do their jobs without the coach screaming at them. "Early on, Jimmy Butler called out the head coach for not coaching hard enough, and then refused to run the coach’s offense." In other words, Jimmy wants Fred to get into guys faces and if you don't do that then I have no respect for you because you are soft. What was Jameel McKay's complaint with Prohm when he walked out of practice. Randy Petersen reported that Jameel was use to Fred's walk through practices during this part of the season and Prohm was making them work.

then maybe the GM shouldn't have told their fans and the whiny media that the roster was going to win right away. It wasn't sold as a rebuilding project to Bulls fans (hell, it was sold by the Fred hoiberg PR people to Iowa state fans as a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to go win a championship right away.).

The he injuries are bad but don't explain the last 3 completely embarassing losses.

Whiny fans? I guess Chicago fans can't even have expectations to at least make the playoffs.
