He's going to be there as long as the current FO is there. They go, he goes.

They need to dump Pau and Noah's bloated contracts and evaluate if Rose can ever be close to what he used to be and if they can attract any big FAs to CHI to play with Butler.

Agreed. Gar's future is probably tied to Fred's at this point. He's not going to be in a rush to dismiss him, having about $30M tied in dead money for coaches is not something any owner, especially a cheap one like Reinsdorf, would be interested in.

Hearing Butler is on trading block...this year for Fred is like his Diante year.

You hear a lot about a lot of BS in the NBA media. You hear about Kevin Love not re-signing with the Cavs, you hear about the Cavs trading Love, you hear about Melo going to CHI, you hear about Kyrie leaving CLE in FA before LeBron came back, you hear about Durant going to GS.

It's all BS and it gets a lot of clicks and attention but almost none of it is based in reality.

The Bulls are going to be mediocre as long as DRose is eating up a ton of salary and not playing.

^^This. DRose is Penny Hardaway part deux; great talent just made of glass. Interesting that they both played at Memphis too

Didn't everyone know the Bulls were in for a major rebuild soon? The inflated expectations of their fans makes that franchise about the worst one to have to do a major rebuild, they have no patience for that.

Yep. That's why I couldn't believe Fred took the job. I think he saw what he wanted to see in that roster.

But who knows, maybe they add a big FA and getting rid of Pau & Noah will be enough to get them to 2nd place in the East consistently losing to CLE instead of being on the border of the playoffs.

Thibodeau got the most of an oft-injured team last year; they were an elite defensive team all year and a decent offensive team when healthy. I think with the build-up coming into this year (you know, that 50 wins weren't good enough, that they had to advance further in the playoffs) and with Fred's comments at his hiring presser, fans had a right to expect more.

Derick seems incapable of running Fred's offense, and Butler doesn't seem interested in running it either. I can't see them sticking with those two. I think you see a big shake up after this year, and then DRose finding another place to play after next year. They should tank next year, but I doubt they will.

Thibs never got credit for "overachieving" with that roster. There was an "accountability" culture that he created. After watching the game last night, I don't think the players care about each other. No chemistry, no nothing. The head coaching change was a terrible move by the front office.

Funny how people love to bring up how Tibs ran them into the ground. Well good thing all the Bulls players will be all well rested heading for their couches watching the NBA playoffs on TV this year.

It's a legitimate point. Thibs looks great compared to Fred this year but not all of the front office criticism of him was lacking merit. Both parties were just too stubborn about how they handled it, especially the front office, and it led to them running off one of the better coaches in the league for a totally unproven option who currently looks in over his head.

Very true. It is a legitimate point I agree.

Bulls have < 0.1% chance to make the playoffs after their loss last night.

Where I do agree with what you are saying, I think this year proved that weather you work them to the bone, or play Hoiball, the team was still full of injuries. I think a lot of the front office critcism of Thibs was them hiding the fact they weren't making any real moves to try and get the players they needed to win a championship. I think it was easier for the office to sit back and blame Thibs for over working them, instead of realizing the facts in front of them that this roster is loaded with aging, injury prone players and them not doing much about it.

I have a feeling this off season could be a rough one for Hoiberg if the Bulls decide to pull their normal crap and blame the coach for inefficiencies and problems running the team, instead of admitting any mistakes they may have made.
