We don't want white home helmets like they were planning on before, that was the backlash. An all white alternate is awesome, but white helmet on Cardinal/Gold home unis would be awful.

I think a lot of the backlash was because we didn't want to look like Nebraska. But now it's not as much of an issue since they've left the conference.
They looked terrible with cardinal jerseys and gold pants. That was the issue.
I think the home team has the choice now. Someone could correct me on that but I thought the home team could wear whatever they wanted so long as it was communicated to the visitors within a required timeframe. If there is a mistake, it's on the home team to change to a contrasting color if necessary.

2007-08 was before it became common for programs to have multiple helmets. I'd still be opposed to the white helmet if it were our only option. Now I'm hopeful we'll get to see a yellow/gold helmet as well!
We've come a long ways! Remember in 2010 when we wore yellow jerseys in the final home game vs Mizzou and ALMOST beat them behind Wally's shut down defense and Jerome Tiller's heroic performance? We JUST had yellow jerseys and we went nuts. We are getting spoiled, I tell ya! 
Am I the only one who is not a fan? I feel like White Helmets only work for logos that are one color, and ours has two that dont really go well with white.

I think the mostly cardinal "I-State" on a cardinal helmet is atrocious. Contrast is key on a helmet. [Agreed. I've been pushing this on the red lids. The AD won't go for it, but maybe Coach Campbell can convince him w/ enough grassroots support from the fans. t-noah ]
I wouldn't mind a permanent white helmet but the problem with the white helmet is that you have to incorporate more white into the jersey or pants. Cardinal jerseys/white pants and then white jerseys/cardinal pants might work...especially with the stripes to pull it all together.
Just because the colors are cardinal and gold doesn't mean EVERYTHING has to be cardinal and gold.

Actually our logo looks better on a white background, rather than another shade of cardinal or gold which clashes with the cardinal and gold in the logo.
I will agree that it would be nice if our logo was one solid color. Too late now, though.
Why too late? How about these stenciled logos? If not permanently, once in awhile for variety. These are not major changes, just decals, and could be done this year...if they wanted.

I agree, a couple subtle details that we shouldn't overlook, previously noted in this thread. I'll "Re-reiterate."
* Cardinal mask instead of gray. Either cardinal or gold mask seems like a no-brainer to me. White or gold on a cardinal lid, cardinal, gold or white on a white, cardinal on a gold.
* Helmet stripes! I'll hammer-home that one over and over at least until there's a complete redesign. I never could understand why this current package had a stripeless helmet, considering the shoulder-piping and pants-stripes.
Every last game, we will not lose another game as long as we're in white helmets
I am not a fan of the home unis, so I wouldn't be against going the LSU route. At the very least they have the away unis covered. The all whites or the red-white-red with the matte helmets. A couple of things moving forward: first, add stripes to the two red helmets. Second, when they order new home unis, make sure that there is white between the piping on the shoulders and pants. That way, they can use the white helmets for a few home games.
I'm curious if they'll tweak the cardinal helmet now? Maybe add stripes to that one and change the facemask. A couple gold stripes and a cardinal facemask might be cool, definitely differentiate from the USC helmets. Anyone out there able to do a mock up?
