Anybody else try this out yet? Looks like there's a few bugs (videos cutting out short being the main thing) and I had to reset my password to... what my password already was. Also annoying to have ads on a service I'm already paying to subscribe to (for some reason this annoys me more on my TV than it does on my computer, probably since I can't just switch tabs until it is over). But as a whole it is nice to see them give it a try and I look forward to not having to Chromecast stuff to my TV this fall/winter.

I downloaded it last night. I have a Roku 4 with 40mbs internet (streaming via 5 GHz wireless). I didn't have any video issues.

My only complaint is when I exited out of a video in the middle of it, I had to restart from the beginning. Not a huge deal as most of the videos are short and I could skip ahead, but a resume video would be nice.

Overall its a decent app. I'm not a cyclones.tv subscriber but I still had access to a ton of content. Watched the videos about Niang and Nader from the draft, some Spring Game highlights, interviews from former players, etc.

I'll definitely subscribe for fall camp, football and basketball seasons.

Edit to say I obviously didn't watch the live Mediacom video. My experience with Roku/streaming video is that sometimes live tv (Sling) can buffer much more frequently then the on demand videos. This may be what the OP was referring to.

So is this an option for the out of staters? Hope so b/c they need options...

?

Cyclones.TV has always been available for out of state people. This is just adding a roku app so you don't have to chromcast/hook up your tv as a second monitor/whatever in order to watch stuff on your TV.

This is just awesome news. But how did they not send an email announcing this or JP tweeting about it?

The Mediacom channel has not been available out of state. Some other content has also not been available (like football games broadcasted on Cyclones.tv).

All of the football games should be available to anyone who could watch Cyclones.tv. Yes they had some technical issues a couple times but they were available to anyone in the world.

I was strongly considering a streaming device and I think this has made my decision pretty easy. Just need to find a good price on a Roku but that deal to get one free with a streaming plan may work very well for the start of football season :)

Essentially it is really very little difference. Instead of hooking a full computer up to a TV you can hook up the simplified Roku device to a TV. Just a little simpler and possibly better performance / technology.

This is great news for fans living out of state. I just activated it on my Roku. (had password issues at first) Works better than my previous option of hooking up a laptop to the TV.

There was the thing with the Texas game that was a rights issue, what other time has stuff not been available out of state?

This is the deal for a free Roku which he was referring to: https://www.sling.com/devices/roku?cvosrc=affiliate.roku.devicepage&affiliate=roku

Also, Playstation Vue was recently added as a Roku app, although I don't believe they have a similar offer for a free Roku. I haven't tried Vue yet, but they seem to have a better offering of channels and multi-streaming options.

Any idea how long they'll run that offer? Wasn't really looking to sign up till August but might have to give it a try.

Sign up for Cyclones.TV and just chromecast the Cyclones.TV tab after you start the game.

Playstation Vue is available on Chromecast. Also, if you do the Sling deal for a free Roku, then technically you didn't buy a Roku, haha. Sling also runs on AppleTV and Chromecast.
