Chances Lazard breaks record this year?

Through 2 seasons, Allen Lazard has 101 catches. He had 45 his freshmen season and 56 last year.

How likely do you think it is that he catches 76 balls this year and breaks Todd Blythe's record? The new staff spoken many times about how they have to get him the ball more.

FYI Tracy Henderson has the most catches in a season, when he had 81 back in 1983. So it's been done before. Lazard would need to average 6.33 catches per game.

I'm hoping he breaks Todd Blythe's Receiving Yards record this season

Ha. Wouldn't that be nice?

I think Lane has the single season receiving yards record at just over 1,000. So Lazard would only have to break that record by about 600 yards. Piece of cake!

I don't think he will break those records until his senior year. I expect Campbell will be more run heavy than CPR's teams.

This feels like a CyBookie first post.

Iowa State threw the ball 47% of the time last year. Toledo threw it 46% of the time.
While I get what you're saying Toledo's qb was a pocket passer. Lanning isn't. I think they'll run more options and with the lack of great OT's I still think they'll run more than usual.

More than likely they'll be passing to keep up since the defense is going to be less than stellar.

It depends on philosophy. If he thinks he can control the clock with the running game, and give opponents less opportunities and keep our defense fresh, that makes sense. I think he'll mix it up enough to keep defenses guessing though.

That will be the game plan going in.

32 FBS players caught at least 76 balls last year. If the staff makes good on their plan to find ways to get him involved then it isn't a guarantee but it's a good bet. There will have to be some monster double digit reception games in there, though. I'm pumped to see him match up against Desmond king. King is probably the best corner Lazard will see this year, and Lazard is the best receiver King will see.

Dez King is the best CB we will play this year. Possibly the best player.
