Doesn't seem like news. Seems like he had a decent reason and wasn't an ass about it.
I dont think he chose not to go because he hated the men of service, for going to war. But I think he is just making the decision because it will get his point across. I guarantee he didn't do it with the mindset "**** these soldiers, how dare they fight in a war."the guys in the service have nothing to do with war, or going to war. It's the politicians that make war decisions. So in this instance, his intentions are misdirected.
That's a bit much. They may not make the actual decision on when to go to war, but they are voluntarily training to be officers in the U.S. military, and some of them in the future will be advising the government on war strategy and running the war (assuming we go to war). They are willing participants in the war machinery and I think his uncomfort as a pacifist is perfecting justifiable.the guys in the service have nothing to do with war, or going to war. Soldiers generally don't start the wars, just fight them. With that said i don't have any problem with him opting out. Not sure why a pro hoops team is having a dinner with Army students anyway.

Again, I guarantee he was not doing it to spite the people at West Point. But if you are going to protest war in America, West Point Military Academy is the most appropriate place to express your anti-war stance, because people will notice your absence and pay attention. He wasn't doing it because the students of West Point are choosing to go into war.He has the right to do whatever he wants, but that just seems stupid. Those guys aren't the ones creating the policies that he objects to.

Nothing like looking for a reason to skip.
