I see it being a close game until we break away at the end. No way Naz and Thomas will be cold much longer. You know Monte is going to show up. I'll take the Clones by 12 but we didn't get to rest until the last 3 minutes.

Read through their quick board, and kinda reminds me of our fans :). Some overly optimistic, some rational, and some trolls.

I find it interesting that noone has mentioned the ability to play in an environment like Hilton. Everyone seems to be worried about our previous schedule and their height advantage, but not much about how tough of a road test this can be for their team.

They probably don't realize what Hilton is like. They're lucky it's not a conference game or they'd be really ******.

Pretty tame site really. A few chicken little-types and a few posters calling them out. I guess Gary Clark is out for them, which sounds like a significant blow. I admittedly haven't spent any time watching them this year.

I had forgotten they ended up with Kyle Washington. I remember wanting to see him in cardinal and gold out of high school.

I like how their usernames get stricken through when they are banned. We need more public humiliation over here. Maybe change the banned poster's avatar to Adam Woodbury or something.

Just looked at last year's schedule for them (holy cow, a lot of close games now that I remember it). I think they were 5-5 on the road, with all but one a close loss (Houston by 13). I'm not familiar with the road environment in their league, but I'd have to guess that Hilton is at least as good as their best, if not on another level.

I expect the guys to be really focused, but confident after that loss to Gonzaga. Probably were itching to get back in the gym and work on the things they need to address.

That's the thing, if Iowa State was playing a team like, say Gonzaga or Maryland, in our non-conference. You bet your ass I'd know about how tough of an arena it is perceived to be. You want any positives on your resume as you can in your non-con, and I feel like a mid-major/major bball conference team should know about Hilton magic if it is on your schedule and be pumped for the opportunity. I may just think Hilton is way more, well-known than it actually is around the country.

Possibly. I didn't hear much about the atmosphere at BYU until right before we went there.

Is that what that was for? I was wondering. But yeah that is a pretty clever idea haha

Wasn't impressed with Cincy in the games I've watched so far. Definite step down from last year. Should be a good practice game for OSU/KSU.

Is that what that was? Makes sense, that guy was being an ass to anyone who dared not predict a Cincy win.

If I were their fans, I wouldn't be too concerned. They have plenty of experience, plus we haven't been unbeatable at home recently.

I was going to use BYU as an example, but then remembered I hadn't heard much about them either and really being surprised. But IIRC, I thought a commentator said something along the lines of how they could have a top-tier basketball arena every year if their students showed out like they do for football games and top-25 basketball games. I guess, giving me the assumption that they didn't do that consistently, but I could be way off on that. Either way, BYU was a very fun environment to play in.

I didn't realize that Kyle Washington went to to Cincinnati. ISU recruited him pretty hard. I didn't think he was anything special at NC State, but maybe the transfer year really helped him.

Do you think we press more against them? From some of the comments I read on some of their other threads, they didn't seem overly impressed with their ball handling.

I've liked the chaos our press has created in the limited times I've seen it implemented. I don't see us going full-scale WVU anytime soon, but I would like to see if Prohm break it out a little more at home to generate some energy.

Uhhh, what? We have one of the longer non-con home win streaks in the nation, I think, it is fair to put us up there as a scary place to go before Conference play. Outside of Baylor and WV, nobody has consistently come into Hilton and beat us the last 4 years, idk why you think it's not a hard place to play.

Their top two scorers against us last year are back (Caupain (18) and Evans (14)). Plus Kyle Washington (who we wanted). Those seem to be their three scorers (especially Evans and Washington at 16.8 and 17.8 respectively). Evans was the guy who came off the bench and lit us up for a while if I remember correctly.
