big fan of Deonte since he announced his transferring here, but even bigger fan since he has grown and developed into a very good basketball player, and seemingly well spoken young man. Good luck to him the rest of his career, I will go on record as saying I think he certainly gets a shot on a summer-league team this year, but hopefully we have him for more than a handful of games still :)

These guys are going to have me in tears before I even get to Hilton tonight. I sure hope they can close it out with a win. All of the seniors have certainly brought me a lot of joy and fun over the years they have been here.

Deonte has always struck me as a thoughtful and nice person. When he was on the coach's show last week, someone called in and asked what they were going to do after basketball. Deonte said that he hoped to fix up the houses that he had grown up in for people that needed them. And that he hoped to have a family and be a dad. I think he'll be successful in far more than basketball.

I took my son to father-son camp in Ames last summer. My son started off pretty awestruck and shy. Deonte was the first one to go out of his way to come up and give him knucks, greet him and take a picture. He's a great guy and another example of the kind of person you want representing your university.

My first introduction to Deonte was at the Cap City league. He and NWB squared off against each other on opposite teams. They were so fun to watch barking back & forth at each other. Despite the difference in size, NWB did a pretty good job of standing up to Burton in the game we watched...but he was no match for when Deonte went into freight train mode.

Deonte - we're glad you chose us. See you tonight at Hilton!

Nothing but admiration and respect for Deonte and the strides we have seen him make! I hope your final game at Hilton is punctuated by a record setting performance. Regardless, of what happens, you are going to be missed and it has been a pleasure to what you grow and perform!!!! All our best to an outstanding Cyclone!

Hope he goes into beast mode rest of the games. He is a game changer. Pass the ball if there are three people on you.

One of the best parts of senior's night is being able to celebrate the development of these once young boys into fine young men.

What a tremendous responsibility coaching staffs have in helping in that development. Guiding them, teaching them, allowing them to fall, but being there to pick them back up. The things they learn in something as simple as basketball will help them deal with the everyday grind of "adult life".

Special thanks to all of these seniors. If it was one year or five, you have all touched our hearts, given us some tremendous memories and have made us all proud that you are forever a part of the Cyclone Family.
