Per Jon Rothstein twitter:

UNC-Wilmington's C.J. Bryce has received his full release to transfer, per a source. Averaged 17.4 PPG and 5.4 RPG last season.

Would take him in a second and feel great about making the tournament. Imagine he stays in his area though (the Carolinas).

6-5 190lb guard. Shot 35% from 3. Sit 1 play 2. From Charlotte, NC.

Will probably follow Kevin Keates to Nc State but a good name to check out if he's blocked to go there.

Sounds like a great player but with Shayok I'm not sure he's a big need.

Assuming not but thought I'd ask. If a sit and play transfer graduates at semester at the new school, would it be possible for him to be eligible to play second semester?

Not sure but they'd still only have a year eligible. So take Shayok for example. he's scheduled to sit out 2017-18 and play all of 18-19. If he starts playing in December of 17 then he'd run out of NCAA eligibility at December 2018

Shayok obviously was the kid I was referring to but if he played second semester 17-18 and first semester 18-19 that's two years of eligibility so that's not happening. However, if we don't find a decent wing having Shayok at semester would fill a huge void. Still I doubt it's allowed.

That's a good question. I guess I'd assume they would be eligible, but I have no idea how it all works.

Right but then you'd lose Shayok at start of conference play in 2018. Mid year eligibility always confuses me because like Deonte Burton only played 3 total years of college basketball and I never understood why.

Fall 2013 marquette
Spring 2014 marquette
Fall 2014 marquette
Spring 2015 sit out ISU
Fall 2015 sit out ISU
Spring 2016 ISU
Fall 2016 ISU
Spring 2017 ISU

A player has 5 years to play 4 or 10 semesters to play 8. Burton only played in 6 semesters.

Assuming there's something, otherwise you'd have grad transfers playing for one team the first semester, graduating, and going to another school for second semester. Imagine that recruiting period, lol.

Because burton never redshirted. He just sat out two Semesters per transfer rules.

Still some options for the staff to evaluate.

@boettger_eli According to Verbal Commits' database, there are 64 players that are eligible to play next season still on the market.

The Burton situation isn't hard to understand.

Suprised there isnt much talk about Zac Lofton, conference player of the year and a grad transfer. Seems similar to a Elijah Brown situation but hes originally from the midwest.

I thought Kane was old. Zach is going to be 25 this November.

Probably has the talent. But he may set an NCAA record by attending 5 different colleges. What's pretty remarkable is he managed to graduate!
