Quick update with AJ Green and Talen Horton-Smith.

AJ Green
Quote (on Northern Iowa, a place where his father is on staff): “They’re definitely one of my top schools. I love them. I have a great relationship with everybody there. Growing up and watching them, they have always been one of my favorite teams.”
Prediction: Northern Iowa remains the favorite, primarily because of his father’s employment at the MVC program, though Iowa State has done a great job in recruiting the playmaking and polished junior guard.

Talen Horton-Smith
Quote: “I was supposed to go down to Purdue and Xavier but with things being so busy, I was unable to make it. But I will most likely visit those two this summer and maybe Michigan State, too.”
Prediction: The recruitment of the Windy City native is just beginning to take off as more and more schools are getting involved by the day. However, give credit to where it is due as Northwestern has been the pursuing for the longest, something that may have caught Horton-Tucker’s eye.

The 1st article below gives a nice scouting report on Jordan Lathon. There is also an interview included where Lathon says Butler and Oklahoma are showing the most interest right now (as of 4/10/2017). The 2nd link I posted is his Future 150 profile which breaks down Lathon's strengths and weaknesses as a player.

Key words from the feature article that describe his game: Dynamic scorer, high basketball IQ, great size, solid defensively, and fundamentally sound. Sounds like a Steve Prohm guy to me. I do wonder if Mizzou will get more involved though as he lists them as one of his "dream schools."

It will be interesting to see who emerges from the summer as the top guys ISU is in on. They will have 3-4 spots to fill.

3-4? Got insider info on Brase? ;)

I think he's saying top targets for 2018, since we will have 3-4 spots for next year? Actually it will probably end up being 4-5 realistically (always some attrition).

The way college basketball is now with transfers, you can always bank on a minimum of 4 spots each year to fill probably.

Well I was challenging his numbers. Right now it's Beverly and Jackson.

We still have 2 schollies to fill, so if we miss on Brase, I'm assuming we'd be looking more into sit out guys later in the summer/fall. So realistically I'd say 2-3 schollies to fill next year.

It seems to me the staff is confident in its ability to recruit high level HS kids. So I think they want at least 3-4 scholarships for next falls class. IMO their focus on grad transfers will continue throughout the summer.

IMO Kasonga is the wildcard. If the staff sees his as a solid 10-20 mpg player great. If not, it wouldn't surprise me if we ask him to move on (assuming he is on target to graduate by next spring). If that happens, we would look at sit-transfer this summer or look at JUCO's again in the fall to supplement a 3-4 player HS recruiting class.
